You've got 10 tokens for the month. Each icon costs tokens (Bronze = 1, Silver = 3, Gold = 5, Diamond = 10).
If you're starting out, check out the icons you want first and either leave a message on the blog forum or find someone who has it and ask them directly.
You also have stamps. The stamps allow you the send icons to others and get points in return. You can find someone who doesn't have it and send it randomly (check their profile details, some people don't accept random deliveries and others are no longer active on the site) or keep an eye on the blog forum for someone making a request for an icon you have.
