Blinksale: Easy, painless, online invoicing for small businesses

Feature Request: "User Last Visited On..."

I can't tell you how many profiles I've seen where there's maybe one or two accepted sets (or zero, actually) and a message left by another member in May or August. It's terribly frustrating to have to dig through so many inactive profiles to find the handful of good folks who want to play the game, but just haven't figured it out yet and/or are just too timid to jump in head-first.

Now it certainly wouldn't be nice to delete someone's account just because they haven't visited recently(!), but it would sure help those of us who want to engage in trading if we had some database-level method of knowing, at-a-glance, whether a sparse profile page belongs to someone who's new or merely inactive.

Specifically, I'd like to see:
• a "was here on 18-Dec-2007" line in the Points/Badges/Friends sidebar on profile pages, and
• the ability to sort friends by "Latest Trip to the Buffet" in addition to the "Username," "Recently Added" and "Points" options currently available.

What do y'all think?

Very good idea, needs to be implemented ASAP!

I dunno; this is like the other feature requests that ease trading at the cost of gameplay. If the point of the site is *trading*, then tools like this would be great; if, however, it is a *game*, then it needs challenges. So the way things are now, I have to reason about a person by what I see of the trading pattern, and dig through profiles to find trading partners; this reasoning process is part of the game.

Hint: look at the most recent chef deliveries to the person.

i would love it!

i have requested sets from people who appear to be active, but the set doesn't come. i detest the idea of asking someone else, it's like going back on my word. My word … is important to me …

dyar on Dec 18, 2007

@debbye: I give them 3 days and then delete my request from their page, and request it from someone else. If they never saw it how can you be going back on your word.

@jmnovak: Yes, the game needs challenges... but as far as I know, there's not too many online games out there where it's considered necessary to challenge players to communicate with other players who aren't logged in, and haven't been in months.

@soprano: That doesn't mean the user hasn't been on the site since that set; it could mean they're a real n00b who doesn't realize the have to manually accept each set sent from the Chefs.

@debbye: You've hit the nail on the head here! I'm actually more interested in how this would affect requesting sets (rather than sending sets). As part of the IB Welcoming Committee, we try to request sets from users with fewer than 250 points. Because of that, we perhaps see more inactive/abandoned accounts than other "players." It'd be nice to be more effective in helping newbies...

@dyar - i know i asked, but you're right …

i am new member of the IB Welcoming Committee on an official level, but having been requesting from newbies and others with low points for several months. i still have a list of folks i would like to request from, but they don't seem to be active. And i know i have at least 150 friends with 0 points. I went thru part of them the other day & many are inactive.

having both of these features would really make life easier to contact members who want to play the game!

Yeah, works for me too
