So I was trying out a Creative HS600 Headset - Skype Edition (free with a purchase) with Skype today, and my mom complained that my voice was fading in and out, and eventually she stopped being able to hear me. Unplugging and using the comp's mike, using an old AIWA walkman mike, plugging the headset back in, nothing helped so she hung up and called me back and we ended our conversation.

Testing all three options in Audacity, everything seemed to work, EXCEPT...

When the mike switch is off (so I can't hear what I'm recording. I can't tell if the mike's supposed to be off it because didn't come with instructions and seems to pick up faint traces of noise), you can hear music (seems to be a mix of jazz and classical) and some man talking about Pittsburgh (where I am now). The static is too bad to hear anything more clearly, but closing and opening Audacity, my floormate heard the sounds during the second recording too.

So, haunted or not? (I'm running vista - "ick," I know.)
