New set ideas
You guys should make a set "Ashbury Ecosystem" or something that promotes eco-friendly-ness. Like with recycling symbols and trash can and trees and stuff.

Oh that would be lovely! I'd like to see a "pet set" myself.. dogs, cats, birds, fish, hamsters and such.
SuperLlamel on Apr 17, 2007
I think there should be a set with a camel and/or a llama. But in general, you guys should make some animal ones.
Hoshichan on Apr 17, 2007
Rockets plz.
soprano on Apr 17, 2007
Yeah--you should do llamels too (llamel = average of llama and camel). Please?
rajr19 on Apr 17, 2007
i would love an egyptian set.
but i think a set to promote earth day and maybe to pay tribue to those who died at virginia tech would be good.
soprano on Apr 17, 2007
What kind of things would an Egyptian set have?
KatieK on Apr 17, 2007
How about "Durango Moon Landing"?
josh
on Apr 17, 2007
Good stuff guys... keep this thread rolling.
SuperLlamel on Apr 17, 2007
How about something with space. Like planets and stuff.
rajr19 on Apr 17, 2007
nevermind the egyptian set
i'd like to see an alexandria travel or something similar
soprano on Apr 17, 2007
I don't really care for Alexandria... which leads me to a new blog post idea...
ajax on Apr 17, 2007
I'd like something with books-novels, tomes, encyclopedias, open, closed, stacked...
soprano on Apr 17, 2007
You should make an icon set with all of the US states, and one with all of the UN countries.
soprano on Apr 17, 2007
(For a total of 242 icons :P)
ShepherdWeb on Apr 17, 2007
Can we get a Rhino in that pet set?
Hoshichan on Apr 17, 2007
@KatieK - YES, that's EXACTLY what I was going for. Chefs, I will bribe you with cookies for a Moon Landing set. <3
Hoshichan on Apr 17, 2007
Oh, and Tower Grove Royalty (tiaras, scepters, etc.)
sheif on Apr 17, 2007
@ajax Manhattan style books would be cool
justG on Apr 17, 2007
- Marseilles Patisserie: Cakes 'n' sweets 'n' pastries 'n' things.
- Ashbury Menagerie II: The Home Front: Dogs 'n' cats 'n' other household pets.
- Alexandria Artifacts: Egyptian set, Alexandria style.
- Shanghai Survivor: Shanghai style. A set of rating-type icons: thumbs up/down, stars, things of that nature.
mik on Apr 18, 2007
I would like something, a bit generic but not typical or boring, that could represent relative quantities or stages or difficulty levels ..maybe with chili peppers? Egg timers? Bowling pins?
I guess that's a bit like a ratings set which has already been suggested. I'm thinking of single icons, not repeating something small to represent a number.
I could also use a set that included a lot of different clothing items - T-shirt, tank top, sweater, skirt, sock...
And I'll second the suggestions of an Earth Day set, even just a earth-friendly & non-earth-friendly pair, but maybe with transportation option icons for bus, carpool, bike, walk..
justG on Apr 18, 2007
Oooh! How about Tower Grove Transit, mik? And, let's see.. Durango Duds? Although.. maybe the clothes would look better in Taipei... Taipei Threads?
My suggestion, the ratings set, was definitely made with "repeating something small to represent a number" in mind (well, the stars, anyway, not the the thumbs up/down). Yours, though, yours could be really cool. I wonder if I'm the only one who thought "Sesame Street!" when I read the description? =)
non-earth-friendly: Manhattan Grime? Mmm.. exhaust pipe fumes.
LoopyMind on Apr 18, 2007
Taipei Pirates ..all things pirates!
MacManX on Apr 18, 2007
How about a pirate-themed "Tower Grove Melee 2" instead?
LoopyMind on Apr 18, 2007
coz, i don't like that style for my taste of all things pirate... if it were up to me I'd either choose Taipei or Manhattan
MacManX on Apr 18, 2007
My official suggestion would be for either a "Tower Grove Music" or a music-themed "Tower Grove Promenade 2" with a violinist, pianist, cellist, string quartet, etc.
mik on Apr 18, 2007
non-earth-friendly: Manhattan Grime?
Maybe the earth in different states - blue/green/white clouds/healthy and blue/green/brown/polluted.
But why stop there? brown/gray/verge of extinction; ...and a mid-explosion version complete with mushroom cloud. Oh, and Water World, Ice Age, Meteor-Impact!
I really like your thumbs up/down idea, justG, & hope that happens. For what I think I would use, having more than binary options is important.
Is Sesame Street still on? Maybe I need it (and a bottle of a grown-up beverage) for 'research.' ;)
justG on Apr 18, 2007
Oh man, Sesame Street better still be on. I don't watch it anymore, but I find the thought of its demise most disconcerting.
Now I've got to think of something to make this post on-topic. I agree that having more than binary options is important, and now that you mention it (well actually, you mentioned it earlier, but it only occurred to me now), using several small things to represent a number can be done with almost any of the icons we have (that cute little Mac icon is totally calling to me now, for software reviews). So that set should have stuff that can't be realised by just lumping a bunch of somethings together, like the thumbs up/down thing, and ooh, maybe a meter of some sort, y'know, like signifying gradations of goodness?
Sparkie on Apr 18, 2007
I'd also like to see a medicine set.. pills, bottles, strange liquids. I love the styles of shasta and manhattan, so maybe you could call it Manhattan Pharmacy :)
justG on Apr 18, 2007
Or Manhattan Rx? =)
KatieK on Apr 18, 2007
I mentioned this before, but I want to make sure it gets the proper exposure:
Legend of Modena! (With a sword, and a fairy, and a little tri-force..)
And also:
Manhattan Sushi (everyone loves sushi, right?)
Something for the 4th of July. The other big holidays seem to be covered.
Hoshichan on Apr 18, 2007
Manhattan Sushi <333
miklb on Apr 18, 2007
I'd second the books/novels theme, and would gladly take advantage of my VIP discount on a standard/starter set, vs waiting for a free release.
soprano on Apr 18, 2007
Yeah, Manhattan Sushi would be awesome!
soprano on Apr 18, 2007
And one for hanukkah.
Luckybeitia on Apr 18, 2007

Something like pets, like the Ashbury Menagerie II: The Home Front idea or Manhattan home pets with cats, dogs, hamsters, etc
or Tower Grovee Business with people in different jobs
Jen on Apr 18, 2007
Wow! long thread here, if its not already been suggested how about some icons for blackberry theme creation?
meggan on Apr 18, 2007
Oooh, just thought of a gardening theme! Maybe a weed, a hoe, a spade, and a mini-rake... Maybe a watering can... I'm thinking in either the Manhattan or Marseilles style, since I like those best.
Man, I sometimes wish I could make icons, haha!
dyar on Apr 18, 2007
I second the Music theme
MobiTec on Apr 18, 2007

Tower Grove ANYTHING - I just love this series.

manhattan magician
gswd on Apr 18, 2007
I also like the Gardening/Yardwork idea. I was thinking push and riding mowers, weed wacker, and maybe a guy and a gal head with the typical wide brim hat. I think that the Tower Grove color scheme would go well with that set.
Sparkie on Apr 18, 2007
Another idea - Marseilles Passport - with icons (no pun intended!) of things like the Eiffel tower, leaning tower of Pisa, passport, suitcase, airplane and such.
Other ideas:
Big Kahuna - some tropical themed icons -
pineapples, coconuts, sandals, lei's, tikis
Tower Grove Tempest - Some weather related icons to follow the TG style.
Kyoto Konstruction (hehe), some construction icons like a pylon, hard hat, factor, box, ladder, hammer..
New York Gangsta! I'll leave it to your imagination...
dishg on Apr 18, 2007
Manhattan Sushi would be nice... Taipei Spring or New York Autumn, anyone? =)
KatieK on Apr 18, 2007
Sparkie - I like the Big Kahuna idea.
justG on Apr 19, 2007
Wow, okay, major post markup kerfuffle, let me try this again:
I <3 Manhattan Sushi too! I really wanted a sushi set in the Shanghai style, but didn't suggest "Shanghai Sushi" 'cos I didn't want to sound like an ignorant fool. =)
Oh and I love most of Sparkie's ideas (Marseilles Passport, Big Kahuna, Tower Grove Tempest, Kyoto Konstruction).
LoopyMind on Apr 19, 2007
Tiki masks!, to go with the Big Kahuna theme
SuperLlamel on Apr 19, 2007
I would love Manhattan Sushi. =)
@Sparkie: I like the idea of Marseilles Passport, but it seems like a better name for it might be Marseilles Travel or something.
jake on Apr 19, 2007
This may seem like a somewhat radical idea, even a little ill conceived ...but how about combining the Sushi ..and the Pirates!! ...TAIPAI SUSHI PIRATES!! ..come on, give it time to sink in..
KatieK on Apr 19, 2007
Taipei monkey ninja pirates.
Eating sushi.
jake on Apr 19, 2007
now we're talking.
daveamun on Apr 19, 2007
I would love to see a hockey themed set - pucks, sticks, skates, etc.
And ... at the risk of upsetting this obviously texa-centric community - Canucks in five, tonight!
LoopyMind on Apr 19, 2007
Taipei monkey ninja pirates.
Eating sushi with Tiki masks on!
Sparkie on Apr 19, 2007
I know this isn't on the freebie list but I got the idea from looking at the rotating icons on the homepage: Ellum Artsy - some colorful "art" icons - paint brush, palette, pencil/pen, paint daubs and splatters.
SuperLlamel on Apr 19, 2007
@daveamun:The Canucks might win in five, but they'll lose to Detroit in the Semis. Buffalo for the Cup!!!!!!!!! :)
I also think a hockey themed set would be cool!
SuperLlamel on Apr 19, 2007
@LoopyMind: Taipei monkey ninja pirates eating sushi with tiki masks on touring the world with famous landmarks (Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Egyptian Pyramids etc.) in the background.
Now that's a set I would want!
lparziale on Apr 19, 2007
Love Pets - would like to see that as well.
Hoshichan on Apr 19, 2007
@SuperLlamel, what you described is what you get when the Chefs have too wild a party @ IB HQ. @_@;
Candy on Apr 19, 2007
LOL. I can see that one. "Iconbuffet goes multi-cultural!" Shanghai Sushi! ... get your california rolls, chopsticks, fish
Starwolf13 on Apr 19, 2007
Cleveland Rocks icon set. Guitar, drums, rockstar, keyboards, musical notes, tourbus, beer can, maybe a marshall stack... (I might have to make that)
justG on Apr 20, 2007
@Starwolf13: And a Drew Carey icon? =]
LoopyMind on Apr 20, 2007
@SuperLlamel: nahthat just TOO much to fit :)

I guess there won't be one for Earth Day this year... Oh well; it was short notice.
Sparkie on Apr 22, 2007
Who knows, maybe they're still working on it. They could call it Manhattan Meltdown :D
soprano on Apr 23, 2007
Meltdown? haha
soprano on Apr 23, 2007
Maybe a math one with numerals and operators.
heinzelman on Apr 23, 2007
How about a sim theme, houses, building, people, streets, trees, cars etc...
matthazinski on Apr 23, 2007
@heinzelman- Taipei for that would be nice
@soprano- For the math one, maybe Oslo or Shasta could be used. Or, of course Kyoto could be used to go along with the geometry one. Also, with the numerators and operators, I'd love to see a Pi symbol!
And how about a "Marseilles Fine Dining" to go along with the value meal idea. As a blogger, I'd also like to see a "Athens Buzz", because there's currently only one icon set for Athens.
tamashii on Apr 23, 2007
There were a few good ideas in mitten’s wishlist thread.
Hoshichan on Apr 23, 2007
I second matthazinski, I really like Athens, I'd love to see more. :)

redwolf on Apr 24, 2007
Cephalopods: octopuses and squid and cuttlefish. You can never have too many squid icons.
buddhahat on Apr 24, 2007
I build websites for a lot of minor sports groups. I could really use some hockey, soccer and baseball icons. As well as figure skating, basket ball etc. Heck, any sports icons would be great.
LoopyMind on Apr 25, 2007
Lego®'s! who doesn't like LEGO®?!?!?!
soprano on Apr 25, 2007
Yeah, Athens Buzz would be cool
Dave on Apr 26, 2007
General brainstorming:
* Manhattan Solar System (8 planets, Pluto and the sun)
* Marseilles Fashion (i.e. clothes)
* Tower Grove Chemistry (test tubes, beakers, explosions, brown goop, etc. :D)
* Ashbury Flora (Trees, bushes, etc)
* Machu Picchu 7 Wonders (7 wonders of the world)
* Dresden Rock Star (guitar, drums, microphone, etc)
and since we've had Blinksale and IconBuffet;
* Firewheel Design
* DS Icons
should be on their way I think ;)

More music needed. Rock Band, Jazz, Classical Orchestra, conductors, Sheet music, Notes
Ralves on Apr 26, 2007
what about work themes =)
Jen on Apr 26, 2007
What about themed food icons, such as a taco, chips and dip or perhaps chinese noodles and chopsticks?
mik on May 01, 2007
bump - ties with current contest
sjwallin on May 16, 2007
I agree with MacManX on the Tower Grove Music idea... being a violinist I could really use something like that...Classical, or electric fiddle, either one or both... :)
KAHRules on May 16, 2007
I love the Redmond stock icon set. Maybe something like Redmond Celebration. This set could have a birthday cake, cupcakes, candy, party favors, streamers, balloons, confetti...
webmonkey on May 16, 2007
Beauty Shop
Jen on May 16, 2007
OH now I could go for that one! :) Maybe a barber's poll and straight razor too. A good mix so both genders will like the set.

Photography Set
Kitchen Set
Camping Set
Crafting set aka Scrapbooking, Rubberstamping
