Blinksale: Easy, painless, online invoicing for small businesses

donating tokens?

I think we should be able to donate our tokens to our friends... I mean, what's to do with all the tokens once you have all of the sets?

I sure would like that.

I like this idea - or even the availability to "gift" icons to friends, with tokens you have left over.

Even if you have all the Sets there may come a time when you need the Tokens. I have them all, and did when the transfer took place, but I only have 5 Tokens left. My refill date is the 24th. If a Gold and anything else comes out between now and then I won't have enough Tokens and will have to wait until after my refill date. Then I will be facing the same thing next month.

I like the idea of being able to use your own tokens to gift a set to someone else. Maybe not viable technically, but the concept certainly appeals.

Yeah, that would be just as good :)

matthazinski on Apr 10, 2007

That's a good idea. However, this would probably only come in handy for VIP users with lots of tokens left over. Regular users usually need tokens in case a new icon set comes from a chef.

Yeah, I guess

Please, If you wanna donate tokens....Can I have tokens from you? Thanks a lot. I need tokens

matthazinski on Apr 10, 2007

@lxolejua- token-donating capabilities are not yet available.

Regular users may need all of their 10 to keep up with new sets, but since the VIP option monetizes the site, at some point 10 tokens probably won't be enough to keep up 100% anyway.

Not everyone feels compelled to have every possible set, me for instance, so if I could gift a set using my own tokens I probably would at some point.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the new sets will be and while I hope and expect a high proportion of bronze sets at first, longer term I'd rather see silver and gold (and they said there would be higher levels later too) sets that I might use or that are particularly interesting, than to collect every set just to collect.

@matthazinski: Good one!

That would be a good feature to have: donate tokens. I guess it's dependent on how many icons the chefs come up every month. Would a VIP member need all the 30 tokens to keep up? I'll probably be a VIP member for awhile since I have a lot of free deliveries missing still.

Ack! Heretic! =]

FWIW — I'm not saying we'll never do this, but for now gifting tokens is technically infeasible. It would require a substantial overhaul to our logic. So don't expect this one anytime soon, as much as it's a fine idea.

@justG: Yup, I'm an ICONoclast.

(glad no one can actually throw anything at me!)
