All the icons.

Well, not all the icons. But all of the tiny-previews (the little one-icon things you see on the Free Delivery page).

If you want 'em… go get 'em! (Though for the life of me I can't figure out why you'd want them.)

Lol, hehe. I just got a Growl update on that file.

soprano on Jul 02, 2008

Maybe you did, maybe you didn't.

debbye on Jul 02, 2008

the geeks are at it again …

if you wanted tiny, you should have had the 16s!

B3llit0 on Jul 02, 2008

If you look at the URL for those little previews, you can see that it's very easy to $ curl them.

annikalee on Jul 05, 2008

"the geeks are at it again …"

you could say that again. i come back from space camp and now they're programming toasters in ruby. these geeks need to be watched...(jk)

B3llit0 on Jul 05, 2008

You know, I added a random number test to the toaster, giving it a one in one thousand chance of catching on fire whenever you call toaster.activate.

annikalee on Jul 05, 2008

that is a little cool...and it proves my point

B3llit0 on Jul 05, 2008

If you must watch us, I can tell you that I'm going to IKEA in a little bit. I'm not telling you which one, though. As for soprano, you live in the same state so you should have no trouble with that. Until you move to California, in which it'll be easier to watch me.

annikalee on Jul 05, 2008

how did you know about that move to california? and have fun at IKEA

B3llit0 on Jul 05, 2008

Soprano told me. =P

annikalee on Jul 05, 2008

that makes sense

B3llit0 on Jul 05, 2008

It does.

annikalee on Jul 05, 2008

but it doesn't explain why you two are talking about me...

B3llit0 on Jul 05, 2008

When we discuss our plans for Everyday Ruby, we tend to go entirely off topic and talk about random stuff. Yesterday morning we didn't get anything done because we were talking about random stuff.

annikalee on Jul 05, 2008

i'm random stuff? thanks that's not very helpful. why were you talking about _me_?

soprano on Jul 05, 2008

You just keep talking about me talking about you.

annikalee on Jul 05, 2008

that sort of made sense

soprano on Jul 05, 2008

It was supposed to.

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

Then you've accomplished that for which you strived.

It's incorrect to end a sentence with a preposition.

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

But it made sense….

annikalee on Jul 06, 2008

*looks in and sees a grammar argument, i mean discussion, going on and runs away quickly*

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

I know, I didn't end it with one.

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

I know.

"It was supposed to.".sub(/(\.?)$/, " make sense\\1")

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

Interestingly, “I put the phone down” is wrong, while “I put down the phone” is correct. “put down” is a verb that takes up two words and doesn't have a helping or linking verb anywhere in it, so it shouldn't be separated (in this case, by “the phone”).

With that in mind:

• At 3:00, over you can come.
   • Not “At 3:00, you can come over.”
• Over the helicopter flew.
   • Not “The helicopter flew over.”
• Inside don't go.
   • Not “Don't go inside.”

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

I know my grammar, you know.

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

I do know. I think “Inside don't go” is especially funny because it sounds wrong when you say it; most people are used to ending sentences with prepositions.

annikalee on Jul 06, 2008

"Inside don't go" does sound wrong and not because i'm used to ending sentences with prepositions...

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

It does sound wrong! Geezus, Cory!

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

You can make it work by adding more words, such as “don't go inside that building”.

annikalee on Jul 06, 2008

i'm sry but now that i have that thought running through my head, it will always sound wrong...

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

“Wrong” sounds like “wrong”.

annikalee on Jul 06, 2008

any word said the right way sounds wrong...for example "wet"

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

Or… pizza!

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

Wetness.

annikalee on Jul 06, 2008

moist

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

Moist towelette.

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

"We built IconBuffet to be a happy, fun place to hang out. Please be thoughtful in what you post to the Blog Forum. We don't care for flames, trolls, or misguided, angry words."

I'm thinking that maybe we should keep this G-rated…

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

I'm not implying anything… but I can see how you might interpret that.

Oh, I wrote moisttowelette.rb.

annikalee on Jul 06, 2008

*shuts up*

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

*shuts up aussi*

annikalee on Jul 06, 2008

oui le francais...

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

Would you like to see moisttowelette.rb, the virtual equivalent of those little wet sheets in packets that you use to wipe your hands off? Sometimes they come in nice wrappers, especially at the sushi bars.

annikalee on Jul 06, 2008

uhm…no thank you

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

SOMEtimes, they actually give you REAL towels at sushi places. So much better.

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

I know, that's called an oshibori. I've heard about them, but never gotten the chance to use one. They're warm or cool depending on the season. Hopefully, one of these days I'll get to visit one of those.

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

Strange. I've never gotten a cool one.

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

You've always gotten warm ones?

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

Ugh. You do know how to say things that sound wrong, don't you?

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

Yes, and I often don't realise it until afterwards.

The trash can next to each of my posts looks nice. If it were a food, I'd want to eat it.

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

Would you? What's your favourite icon family?

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

I'm really not quite sure, TBH. Dresden sure is nice, as is Kyoto and Amsterdam and Manhattan.

Why aren't there any Deep Ellum free deliveries?

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

Amsterdam and Manhattan are probably my favourites.

iconmaster's sets appeal to me more, though Oslo is nice also.

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

Nom nom nom. Manhattan. Amsterdam. Nom… ♪

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

Good for you.

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

Junk food is bad for you, though.

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

No it's not...

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

It might be…

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

Yeah, it could.

B3llit0 on Jul 06, 2008

Let's move this to w00t.txt.

soprano on Jul 06, 2008

Should we?

annikalee on Jul 07, 2008

i would comment on this but i don't know what you two are talking about.

*is confused, so everything is nominal*

soprano on Jul 07, 2008

w00t.txt is file in our shared Dropbox folder.

Acutually, it's called w00t.mail, for esoteric reasons.

annikalee on Jul 07, 2008

and those reasons would be..?

soprano on Jul 07, 2008

That TextMate was getting screwed up and using the Mail bundle for everything I piped in using /usr/bin/mate.

annikalee on Jul 07, 2008

*is sorry she asked*

soprano on Jul 07, 2008

I knew you would be. But that's why we're helping you learn (or trying, at least).

annikalee on Jul 07, 2008

that's why you're helping me to learn? really? i thought it was for other reasons...

soprano on Jul 07, 2008

It was? I can't remember.

annikalee on Jul 07, 2008

neither can i. i was hoping you would remember...

soprano on Jul 07, 2008

i guess were lost then

annikalee on Jul 07, 2008

annikalee on Jul 07, 2008

argh!

B3llit0 on Jul 07, 2008

And now, a little recollection from my near-photographic memory:

Soprano and I kept making little programming jokes. You didn't get them and stated, “this almost makes me want to learn how to program, just so I can understand you” (or something very similar). We offered to teach you, and you accepted.

And that's why we're trying to teach you.

annikalee on Jul 07, 2008

yeah..that's one of those reasons i was talking about. there are others...

MrDee on Jul 07, 2008

any idea how to extract tbz files on windoze?

B3llit0 on Jul 07, 2008

Go to 7-zip.org and download the Windows version. It can deal with most types of compression, which will get you through TAR-bzip files (.tbz) and many more.

sloan on Jul 08, 2008

I love 7-zip long time

annikalee on Jul 08, 2008

that sounds wrong...

B3llit0 on Jul 08, 2008

It does… and now, I have to do it:

7-zip-lover!

annikalee on Jul 08, 2008

*has a very dirty thought*

soprano on Jul 08, 2008

7-Zip is pretty cool, actually.

annikalee on Jul 08, 2008

how many dates have you had with 7-zip now soprano?

soprano on Jul 08, 2008

None.

annikalee on Jul 08, 2008

none? really? i don't believe you

soprano on Jul 08, 2008

You should. Really.

annikalee on Jul 08, 2008

how many dates have you had...? just answer that one question

soprano on Jul 08, 2008

Only one. And you know who that is…

annikalee on Jul 08, 2008

do i now...? oh wait, yeah i do

B3llit0 on Jul 08, 2008

7-zip is OK. If you've got Stuffit (which I do, though it's a slightly older version as I'm not willing to pay for an upgrade), you don't need 7z.

soprano on Jul 08, 2008

Come on, command line utilities (tar, gzip, bzip2, p7zip) are totally better than StuffIt!

Does anyone else think that "StuffIt" sounds wrong?

annikalee on Jul 08, 2008

well now that you mention it soprano...it does sound really wrong, but i've heard a lot worse today so....

soprano on Jul 08, 2008

Interesting, I guess...

B3llit0 on Jul 08, 2008

UNIX is way better, but I usually can't be bothered to open up Terminal for bigger operations when I can leave DropStuff open and get the same thing done by dragging. Using Terminal, I can gzip ~/cheese.txt, ~/Documents/crap.txt, and /usr/bin/food.txt (I know that doesn't belong these, I just was picking a random path) and then delete the originals, like so:

$ gzip ~/cheese.txt
$ rm ~/cheese.txt
$ gzip ~/Documents/crap.txt
$ rm ~/Documents/crap.txt
$ gzip /usr/bin/food.txt
$ rm /usr/bin/food.txt

Or I can drag each one onto a DropStuff window with the TAR-and-compress view open, and get the same thing done faster. Sure, for one-time jobs where I only need to compress one thing, UNIX is just fine. When I'm cleaning my whole hard disk, that gets a little repetitive, even if I can drag the files onto the Terminal window.

Now that you mention it, the name is a little weird, yes…

The phrases “It's hot in here“ and “Do you feel hot” sound really wrong when you think about them.

B3llit0 on Jul 08, 2008

*doesn't belong there. Why did I type “these”?

soprano on Jul 08, 2008

/usr/share/emacs/22.1/etc/COOKIES

annikalee on Jul 09, 2008

Thanks to you two the STS now needs a RSLS. Countdown has stopped at T-00:00:06 and the crew must leave the Orbiter for safety precautions. I hope you two are happy.

soprano on Jul 09, 2008

6s left, eh?

B3llit0 on Jul 09, 2008

That's not very hard to figure out, “T minus” and a time always means that some amount of time is left (but I can't figure out why people can't just say “time remaining”). I don't know what those other things are.

Lol @ /usr/share/emacs/22.1/etc/COOKIES

soprano on Jul 09, 2008

/usr/share/calendar/calendar.lotr

annikalee on Jul 09, 2008

T minus is because at T = 0 the orbiter lifts off so therefore T minus is before liftoff and T plus is after liftoff . At T-6 seconds, the SSMEs begin to burn and that's the only hint I'm giving you. You will have to figure out what you did on your own...

B3llit0 on Jul 09, 2008

I've seen the LotR one before, I think that's awesome. Have you seen Tetris and Towers of Hanoi?

soprano on Jul 09, 2008

Those are different. They're not random files.

/usr/share/dict/words

annikalee on Jul 09, 2008

nice avoiding my comment there B3llit0

B3llit0 on Jul 09, 2008

Oh- @annikalee:

*google* *google google*

SSME– Space Shuttle main engines
RSLS– Redundant Set Launch Sequencer (abort)
STS– Space Transportation System

So the spaceship is going to blow up in 6 seconds and its launch has to be cancelled. Let's fix that with a few lines of Ruby…

http://pastie.org/231180

^_^

annikalee on Jul 09, 2008

uhm...well since you caused the problem you can't fix it. and you were really close with that google of yours but you have to put all of the pieces in to the puzzle...

B3llit0 on Jul 09, 2008

I can fix it if I want to because I know Ruby.

annikalee on Jul 09, 2008

no you can't fix it sry because believe it or not Ruby is not the answer to the universe. 42 is.

B3llit0 on Jul 09, 2008

No, that's the answer to life, the universe, and everything.

Either way, I didn't say “Ruby is the answer to the universe”, so you've committed the logical fallacy of ignoratio elenchi, also known as irrelevant conclusion by saying something that doesn't logically follow what I've said.

annikalee on Jul 09, 2008

my point was, of course, that you can't fix everything with programming. Programming doesn't fix all the problems and it doesn't fix the RSLS problem.

B3llit0 on Jul 09, 2008

FORTRAN has been used in the space industry before.

soprano on Jul 10, 2008

But it's true - you still need space nerd engineers.

annikalee on Jul 10, 2008

yeah, without the space nerd engineers you don't have anything to program.

so i guess the best combination is a computer scientist and a space nerd engineer

B3llit0 on Jul 10, 2008

Or is it?

annikalee on Jul 11, 2008

i can't think of a better combination.

B3llit0 on Jul 11, 2008

Not baroque opera conductor + programmer?
*is what he would like to do in life*

soprano on Jul 11, 2008

That's a strange combination...

No offense.

B3llit0 on Jul 11, 2008

You're not the first to think so. :-)

soprano on Jul 11, 2008

But still, if you're into space stuff, then a space nerd engineer and a computer scientist would do pretty well together, it seems.

annikalee on Jul 12, 2008

in order to safety get into space, yes you need both the engineer and the computer scientist and i never said that they had to be the same person but they still make a good combination.

sloan on Jul 12, 2008

Party crasher.....yippee ki... ay...

soprano on Jul 12, 2008

Hey, no hijacking!

annikalee on Jul 12, 2008

yeah i agree with soprano!

B3llit0 on Jul 12, 2008

Hah, between soprano and I I'm not sure how many threads have fallen victim to our subtle hijacking techniques that take advantage of side topics connected to valid trains of thought.

Example:

Person 1 > I like cheese.
Person 2 > Me too, do you like gouda or swiss better?
Person 1 > I think gouda.
Me > Gouda is a funny name, don't you think?
soprano > Indeed it is…
Me > lol, ellipsis.

As you can see, everything does indeed have a connection. The final link in the chain, however, is seemingly unrelated to the original thought.

soprano on Jul 12, 2008

The second time I read your last comment, I saw:

Person 1 > I like cheese.
You > lol, ellipsis
Hypothetical Me > WTF?!

annikalee on Jul 12, 2008

how soprano just how?

soprano on Jul 12, 2008

how soprano just how what?

annikalee on Jul 12, 2008

how did you miss the 4 comments between "i like cheese" and "lol, ellipsis"?

soprano on Jul 12, 2008

Oh, because B3llit0 just mentioned how the "final link in the chain ... is seemingly unrelated to the original thought"

annikalee on Jul 12, 2008

ok...

soprano on Jul 12, 2008

Unconfused now?

annikalee on Jul 12, 2008

nope because remember i'm always confused...

soprano on Jul 12, 2008

No, you're really not.

annikalee on Jul 12, 2008

when am i not confused soprano?

soprano on Jul 12, 2008

when ur usin gramer goodly

annikalee on Jul 12, 2008

argh!

That hurt my head to read. For your information, even when I use good grammar I'm confused. Truthfully, I can only think of a few moments where I haven't been confused lately...

soprano on Jul 12, 2008

Well, at least your capitalizing youre sentences properly now.

annikalee on Jul 12, 2008

argh!!!!

You are just doing this to make me go crazy or to use proper grammar. Truthfully, I can't tell which.

soprano on Jul 12, 2008

I like it better when people use good grammar.

Quote from an online chat I had with someone today: "I do really hate talking to people who use abbreviations like i, its, whats, yah, and ez." (And that was to someone who had typed i, its, whats, yah, and ez in that same chat.)

annikalee on Jul 12, 2008

Okay, that only makes me want to use better grammar in my chats and online. Thank you.

soprano on Jul 12, 2008

Only what? Now I'm confused.

annikalee on Jul 13, 2008

Okay I have no idea where that "only" came from. Just take it out...

soprano on Jul 13, 2008

Oh, okay. Sounds good.

annikalee on Jul 13, 2008

Does it now or does it sound wrong?

soprano on Jul 13, 2008

The only? How can the word "only" sound wrong?

annikalee on Jul 13, 2008

"Just take it out..." That sounds wrong

soprano on Jul 13, 2008

Oh. I get it now. Too much wrong-sounding stuff here.

annikalee on Jul 13, 2008

Have you noticed that stuff only sounds wrong when you point out how wrong it sounds and it doesn't sound wrong when you first say it or type it?

soprano on Jul 13, 2008

Of course it doesn't. Otherwise you wouldn't say it.

annikalee on Jul 13, 2008

Well, I would, but I'm special that way.

annikalee on Jul 15, 2008

And you know that...

B3llit0 on Jul 15, 2008

But what about pandas?

annikalee on Jul 15, 2008

You have to say it the right way..

B3llit0 on Jul 15, 2008

What do I have to say the right way?

annikalee on Jul 15, 2008

pandas...if you say it the right way, then it sounds wrong.

B3llit0 on Jul 15, 2008

I have to say “pandas” in a context that sounds wrong? OK…

I like sleeping with pandas.

soprano on Jul 15, 2008

Bad.

B3llit0 on Jul 15, 2008

soprano on Jul 15, 2008

annikalee on Jul 15, 2008

No it's not BAD. It's just Bad. Superman seeing in the dark is BAD

soprano on Jul 15, 2008

Of course Superman can see in the dark…

B3llit0 on Jul 15, 2008

I can see in the dark 'cos I have two GRÖSSBY, which are lights produced by IKEA that, when plugged in, turn on when it's dark.

B3llit0 on Jul 17, 2008

Everything at IKEA is designed in Sweden.

annikalee on Jul 17, 2008

yeah i know because IKEA is swedish.

soprano on Jul 17, 2008

Colorado must be so un-Swedish.

annikalee on Jul 17, 2008

hey. i'm from colorado and i'm swedish!

B3llit0 on Jul 17, 2008

Do you speak Swedish? I can read it (and pronounce it correctly), and therefore write it. Unfortunately, I don't know what many of the words mean. XD

annikalee on Jul 17, 2008

i don't really speak it. my grandmother speaks some, but not much.
