Q: Know any great examples of icon use?

I've just spent a happy time browsing Wotan's excellent blog list of icon resources http://www.iconbuffet.com/people/wotan – and checking through my own bookmarked sites to see if there was anything to add to his comprehensive list.

Made me wonder: is there a gallery or list anywhere of great sites that make brilliant use of gorgeous free icons? I'd love to know. I'm sure it would be a great source of inspiration.

Do any of you have links you'd like to see on a list?

Or is your own site a great example?

Looking forward to hearing from you ....

They aren't free, but I used the moneybag icon from Marseilles in some slips I designed for something he does at his Bed Bath & Beyond store called LISA (Look Inside Always). The employees are supposed to look inside the customer's boxed merchandise to make sure they haven't put something else in to steal it. If they find it and remove it, they can get a reward. If the customer finds it, they can bring it in along with their receipt for a 10% off coupon that works with any item. The idea is that once the customer brings it in with their receipt, my dad can look at the receipt and find out which cashier sold the item with the paper still inside, and let them know.

The Adventures of.... It's mine. It hasn't been updated in a very long time but it uses the Taipei Tiny icons :)

Yeah. I moved it thinking I'd make plenty more. Who knows ;)

I used a few different icons on various pages at the Orange County Retired Educators Association website. Most notably, the apple from Shasta Classroom as one of the menu icons. Many of the others used are from Manhattan UM (a paid for set) or SOHO (another paid for set).

A fellow Mooninite, epidemix, posted a blog last month about his new project SearchDojo.com. His use of IB sets in the design of the site is probably the best example I've seen.

Thanks for your comments and links guys. But hey, I'm surprised ...I expected to be flooded with links to cool sites that use lots of IB icons. Or compilations of "best of" sites that use icons. Have I discovered a gap in designer resources?
