Recipients tokens and stamps

When previewing my icons, i get the list of those who don't have the icon, but i have no idea whether they have the tokens to accept. Right now i just blindly send out icon sets to those without them, is this correct?

It is correct that you don't know if the people have the Tokens to accept them. However, some people clearly state in their profile that they don't have any Tokens. Sending those folks Sets will likely just tie up your Stamps for 7 days.

Yeah, I think that's alright, too. I'm not sure if there is an official etiquette guideline here or not, but I believe it is the general consensus to try to share (and not worry so much about considering this spamming). After all, recipients need not accept anything anyway. Personally, I don't like receiving more than one to two sets from somebody per batch, but to each his own. (I'm not sure if the chefs have some limit built-in for this at all, but they probably should.)

Like dyar said, ideally, it's nice to know whether or not someone might actually be interested in receiving a set which is why many list the number of tokens they have available in their profile (or even drawn into their avatar). Some even list the date in which their tokens will arrive. I don't know why the chefs haven't implemented this directly into the site, but I'd guess it has something to do with actually preventing even more unsolicited deliveries from specially crafted spambots and the like.

The way I see it, this site is set up as a game (why else would you have points, after all?) As a game, the site is structured to encourage certain kinds of play, that is, to make it more fun. The idea of hiding certain kinds of information, such as recipients tokens and stamps, suggests that the game designers (the Chefs) want to encourage a style of play where the players communicate with each other. If all the info is just put out there for everyone, then the game play becomes much more mechanical, and less fun. My two cents, of course...

i think it would be a nice feature to be able to display(or not)how many tokens you have available, and when you refill date is.

well, the chefs have already said they want to encourage communication, so they won't show how many tokens a person has automatically (sorry, too lazy to find the link... but there are several references in other blogs). you can mention in your profile or avatar how many you have, if you like. lots of people do this.

i like the community aspect of this site so i think that's a good idea. i don't mind receiving unsollicited delivieries, although to be honest i rarely have tokens (none now, for example, so don't send me anything). however when someone sends me more than two at a time, with no note to accompany them, *and* i have written in my profile that i have no tokens it does seem like overkill...

usually i refuse deliveries i cannot accept, to return the stamps ; but if you send me 5 at a time i will just let them sit there until they expire.

I'm one of those. My profile clearly states whether I have tokens or not, and if people send me unsolicited stuff without reading that and can't be bothered to communicate with me *shrug* they've only got themselves to blame when I hold their stamps hostage. It's a PITA scrolling through them all, but I'm stubborn like that. To my mind it's the same as email spam - if someone you know sends you loads of emails with fun things/links to things etc., okay I might not be that interested in it, but I'll read it anyway because I know them, or I have some kind of relationship with them, whether it's someone I know personally, an online friend, or a company I've had dealings with in the past. If on the other hand someone who doesn't know me or have some kind of relationship with me bombards me with emails, that's spam and they go straight to my spam folder or trash.

Back onto the tokens thing, like zelda013 says, it's about the communication. If I have tokens, but I'm just not interested, I'll decline it, but I'm more likely to accept it if someone's taken the trouble to contact me rather than just blindly pressing the 'send' button then moving onto someone else to spam.

That's how I play the game. ;-)

Mental note... OK to bombard FA with spam ;)
