Avatar Problem

can someone explain to me why I have problems uploading a new avatar?

try changing the extension to a .png
It worked for me, I had the same problem.

There's a whole Help FAQ by mik located Here. I resize mine to 48x48 first and upload them as a png, and I've never had any problems.

Perhaps more details of what you're doing will be helpful to us helping you.

Also, use Firefox and don't try to change any profile info with the image upload. Good luck!

naomi, you have the double dot PNG bug which happens with JPGs. Another image format should avoid that problem but to avoid all of the more common potential problems, use a PNG.

Has anyone uploaded a JPG recently and not had the double dot bug?

@mik: I uploaded updated my avatar a few days ago and it's a 98x98 jpg...

You shouldn't just change the file extention of your .jpeg image without re-exporting the original artwork. Try saving/exporting the avatar from the program you used to create it as a .gif or .png file if you can.

As a last resort you can use a .jpeg to .png image converter but be prepared for poor results.
