Play PackRat on Facebook: our feverishly addictive new game

Ruh-ro, Raggy!

Actually, I think that Astro (Jetsons) was Scooby's dad. ... from the future. Yeah, I think that's it.

No, really, there's a reason for this.

I'm into retro. Or, the RETRO retro. Imagine my chagrin when I heard a radio station claiming that it played "all the retro hits!" and they meant 80's rock. Sigh.

Of course, I didn't REALLY expect a rock station to play lounge, pre-bop, and such. But 40's, 50's, 60's... that's cool time, daddio!

I am getting into the old sci-fi - hence the Astro reference. And, as long as we're going there...
What's a more perfect tie-in to
Shasta-Robo, Alexandria Atmosphere (teenie-tinie spaceships!), Alexandria Cosmonauts, Groome Lake Invasion...

So what else is retro? 40's spy genre? New York Noir!
Rockabilly? Manhatten Night Life (and lounge-y)
More little green men (or flying saucers)? Dresden Atmosphere, Oslo Atmosphere...
And one that I didn't expect? Alexandria Architecture - there's a little antique travel trailer in there! Looks like a precursor to the Airstream!

So, until IB puts out an olde timee Saturday Morning Western or a Tiki Bar / cocktail iconset, I'll just sit here smiling fondly at my retrobots...

(p.s., from a "science can save the world!" late night movie, we've got Duranog Research. It's so... science-y!)

Heh. Ask etherbrian about Happy Radio.

We can have tiki icons arranged. I'm going to lean on etherbrian for those as well.

I'll have to discuss the radio with you in an email, but I can say that tiki icons seem completely doable. I must, however, warm you of the inherent danger of disrespectfully toying with quasi-anthropomorphic, polynesian carvings. You are familiar with the Brady Bunch's Hawaiian vacation, right?

mvisconte on Apr 03, 2007

I've heard similar stories of people who took sand, rocks and whatnot (I think this is "bulk" whatnot, otherwise it would be whatnotS) from Hawaii and found themselves cursed... to the point of mailing things back (c/o postmaster general, Hawaii) pleading w/ whoever received it, to please, please, please put it back and tell the angry gods they was sorry.

I can tinker, I can toy, I can take a Tiki. I've already studied Shag (http://www.shag.com/) intently (I was camping at the time), I've seen every epi of TikiBarTV, I've looked at all (all) the mugs at the Tikifarm. I've had reservations at the TikiRoom, and my Martin Denny runneth over. I think I'm prepared. 'sides, I'm quasi-anthropomorphic myself ("Dishwasher, Transform!"). You make 'em, and I'll buy the virtual drinks!
I'm really craving a carving. I parlez polynesian... A heapin' helpin' of Long pig for me!

Whew.

Depending upon the themedness, I can imagine long boards (no pigs), palm trees, tiki masks, or bar drinks. It's too bad it's too cold for grass skirts.

Hm... now if I can figure out how to work cowboys and flying saucers with hula girls... Nope, you can only fit so much "there" IN there.
