cats are much more intelligent in my opinion - if you throw a stick and ask them to get it, they look at you as if to say 'why did you throw it away in the first place dumbass?'

haha, although cats are more independent, if you want a more playfull companion get a dog, but cats are easier to take care of

Though my cats will play fetch if the mood strikes them. They always set the toy just out of my reach ... they want me to work for it too. ;)

Dogs are fine ... for smelly, annoying, needy creatures. ha.

My cats are just as playful as any dogs I know of.

To each their own! ;)

I was never a cat person, always considered myself a dog person actually (had several of those as pets thru the years). Then 2 cats adopted me & my husband and I've been hooked ever since. Against all my good senses I have turned in to that crazy cat lady who always talks about her cats as tho they are her children.

So never say never when it comes to which type of person you are: cat, dog, monkey, etc.

Cats! Woohoo! I love both cats and dogs. However, I tend to prefer cats because A) they are more indepentant, which matches my personality, and B) dogs can be large, aggresive, and vulnerable to pack mentality; I had a bad experience with a dog when I was very little, and since I have always been somewhat leery of them.
