which delivery group are you in?

There are effectively* 4 delivery groups, and fresh deliveries (except for special circumstance like AHS going to VIPs) go out on a cycle of 1 new set to each group on a rotation.
*(see Josh's comments below)

If I could identify which group someone is in, I could make requests ahead of a set being released, and know who will have received the same fresh delivery as me and therefore not need it.

Based on Marseilles Value Meal being the first set sent out on the current system and therefore group 1 or North, an example delivery for each group would include:

IB Group 1 aka North
Shanghai UV, Alexandria Cinema, modenatroid, Pumpkin Eve3

IB Group 2 aka East
Modena Scachi, Dresden Symbol, Claiborne Nature

IB Group 3 aka South
New York Little Ninja, Durango Office, Alexandria Monstrous, Kyoto Figurehead

IB Group 4 aka West
Dresden Gamer, Tonkawa Tile, Marseilles Astronomical, Bangor Human

This user style sheet for the main Free Delivery page will line them up in four columns instead of 3, so one group's deliveries mostly line up (offset by deliveries which went to VIPs outside of the 4 group rotation).

This post isn't kept up to date as each new set is sent out. The delivery groups are now part of the data for each set at the IB Dashboard. You can always check there to see which group got a particular set fresh. Since the chefs have groups 1-8 but we can't tell what they are exactly yet, to avoid future confusion the 4 group designations being used are N, E, S, and W, or V for sets sent fresh to VIPs, or C for 'classic' sets sent out on the old IB system.

Possibly use an Acronym such as MOST

Marseilles Group = Group 1
Oslo Group = Group 2
Shasta Group = Group 3
Taipei Group = Group 4

Someone can see if they can come up with a better Acronym using the Set Names

I'm Group 3; I got fresh monsters today.

For exciting nomenclature than 1,2,3,4; may I suggest:

Hue, Saturation, Luminosity, and Brightness.
Opaque, Red, Green, and Blue.
Summer, Fall, Spring, Winter.
UPS, FedEx, DHL, ...? (There's a Japanese company with a cute mama cat and kitten for their logo, but I can't find them.)
Primus, Secundus, Tertius, Quartus

My spreadsheet challanges Marseilles Value Meal (set #63) as being the starting point.
If Amsterdam High Seas (set #73) only went to VIPs then it should not be counted in the four groups.

If Tonkawa Tiles (set #132) is a group4 (G4), I can successfully backup to SlideShowPro (set #76) and confirm I received the G4s from the chefs. My records are incomplete before SlideShowPro but I have received G4s Anaheim Expression and Taipei Tiny. Based on this pattern Marseilles Value Meal should be a G4 but it has not been delivered to me. It looks like the Neanderthals are the first to crawl out of the chefs' primordial soup. Who has more complete archaelogical information?

I love all the data that you guys and gals track. FYI — though you've somewhat stumbled upon our methodology for releasing sets, it's a lot less organized than it might appear. Don't be surprised if you wake up one day and find that your "group" has changed. ; )

Based on all sets, Group 4 got Pumpkin Eve 3 not Group 1. We missed out on a set last month so were the first to pick up a set this month.

However, seems the Chefs don't like us working things out and will change it whenever we do. ;o)

@ iqon - I have a listing of all the sets and their release dates since the new IB started and can confirm that Marseilles Value Meal was the first Set issued under IB 2.0 on 3/20/07. I was in the group that got it.

There was a glitch in the group distribution early on which I don't know if the user style shows it. Group 1 should have received Taipei Tiny (the 5th set issued under IB 2.0), but instead received Alexandria Election (the 6th Set issued). But since then it's been like clockwork every 4th Set, with the execption of AHS.

I just checked and the first set I got from iconmaster in the new IB was NY Neanderthal, followed by authentic jobs, NOT Alexandria Election, which should have been my next free one. So then I'm in group 2 I assume

I'm confused? Last set I got from a chef was PE3. According to @mik I should be group 1 and should have gotten (or will be getting) Modenatroid. According to @JBVisions I'm in group 4, but then I didn't get Marseilles Astronomical. So who's right? And has anybody received Modenatroid yet?

I know for a fact that Marseilles Value Meal was the first one issued under IB 2.0 and thus that Group should be #1.

I got that one Free and picked up over 1,000 Points (before we even knew what Points were for) by sending it out to Old Skool IB'ers who came over with a full complement of Sets because everyone had 10 Tokens and there was nothing else to spend then on.
