[DG] Arctic Circle
Ready to try a new trade game?
The idea is that participants get a new set, specifically Amsterdam Arctic, and then send it to the next person on the list.
If you want this set and you have enough tokens to accept it - it's gold so that's 5 tokens - post a comment here. Since accepting the set will bring you 5 stamps, you don't need to have stamps already.
As soon as you accept the set, send it to the next person who commented after you, and post a note to their box that includes:

If you can't wait or you spend your tokens elsewhere (for example if your tokens are about to expire), please delete your comment to remove yourself from the chain. You can jump back in anytime.
If we get stuck, please allow up to 2 days for the chain to pick up again but after that we'll skip the absentee member and continue on.
Want to post to this thread but not become a link in the chain? Tough! Actually, I'd love to know what you think, but write a post about trading games in general or something under 'Blab' or leave a note on my page.
We'll need someone to start so let's see if someone in the chain ends up getting it as a free delivery, and otherwise we'll figure something else out.
update: Since I'm at the top of the list.. if you get this set as a free delivery, I will accept it from the first person to send it to me who was already on this list before the set came out.

Betty I think you just take your name off the list. I asked mik and she said if she didn't get it she would receive it from the first name on the list that sent it to her to get the chain started.

I think that if you got it for free (or got it elsewhere), that you should take yourself out of the game? I dunno, it seems a little bit unfair that no one sends to you and you get to send to someone (just my 2 cents)

yep, looks like the spammers used the list. mhayes is the only one who actually claimed it from someone else, the others have to say no to the spammers to receive it from someone above them.

@tamashii: I'm kinda confused too. I just went down the list and you were the first person I was able to "tag." I figure if anyone between you 'n' me has received the set for free, they should remove their comment from the thread/game.
I know people aren't @ IB every waking moment. If you want to decline the delivery, go ahead. I can wait until myrheille logs in and see if she accepts a free delivery and removes herself from the game, or declines the delivery from whomever's sent it to her, at which point I can "tag" her and continue the game.

One trouble with this circle/tag type game is that it is hard to send the delivery when others keep elbowing there way in.

I think one complication might have been people added themselves without really paying attention to the point of this game (i.e., thinking it was a "please send me this icon" thread)...
Kudos for the idea, though. I wonder if there's a way to play up the "patience" idea here the next time you do this (if there is a next time?)...'cause the concept certainly goes against the immediate gratification that this site seems to be about. :-)

for me it wasn't about patience, as I was willing to wait a week until it was my turn. The thing is that people that got the set from somewhere else didn't exclude them selfs from the game, which made it complicated when trying to figure out who was supposed to go next, and I noticed I was skipped from the list somehow, and in turn even if I was sent the set, I had no one to send it to

I think that part of the problem here is that the posts were not just being used as the person's place holder. So other posts were interspersed that may have had something to do with the "Circle", but they were already on the list elsewhere. The Cupertino went fine, although not many people played (I was # 2 or 3 and I had nobody to send to).

Maybe I've got some problems with the time zone or problems with the site (i had the same problems of mik to login).
