Spam Email.
So I finally checked my Yahoo! account today because it's been a while. And this is what I found:
You Qualify For Dimploma
Call Today 1-562-252-8914
imbue hahn parrot turvy squat oldy.yule admix kennan.
Do it mean something? Don't think so. So this was my response.
"I don't know what you are trying to sell, but if you want to be taken seriously and not treated like "SPAM," my suggestion is you learn how to use spell check. There are only five or six words in your email and it's pathetic.
"You Qualify For Dimploma."
Had you been something besides spam, I wouldn't have paid any attention anyway because your lack of correct spelling proves to me that you are ignorant and lack the intelligence to click a button to spell check.
The only reason I am even writing this because I want you and all the rest of your "spamalot" people to leave me alone. Don't email me anything else, unless of course, it needs to be proofread.
Erin"
I want my Yahoo! account to stop being flooded by spammers. I don't need to increase size and I don't want shopping discounts. I just want them to leave me alone.
Ok. I'm done. Thanks.

great, but this way, they know your email exists ... spammers use stuff like a@yahoo.com, b@.... and try to guess valid mails. But they don't know if mail is valid or not, because most email servers are configured not to reply email does not exists (it's the case for msn/hotmail, and suppose also for yahoo, gmail, ...). By replying, you says to them : "hello, I've correctly received your spam and I exist, but don't want more". It should be well known if spammers took care about whether you want spams or not ...
and the fact that they misspell words is to pass through antispam filters (VI4GRA for instance, note the 4 instead of A ;o)) ...

and so the mailer-daemon came back with an invalid email.
@wile for the advice. i usually just mark it as spam and go on, but i didn't today and that's what i found

Never ever ever reply to spam. You just confirm that your address is real and they send you even more.

You still qualify for a diploma, don't you?
Teehee.

most email scanners use what's called a "Bayesian filter." those "nonsense" words are designed to bypass the filter. the fact that you replied to it...
well, i hope you like spam, 'cause you're gonna get a lot, now...
:)

The Spam Letters

FIGHT SPAM:
1) get your own domain, give a different address to everyone
2) get something like Spam Assassin on the server
3) run something like Mailwasher before you download email
4) never ever respond. in fact don't even let spam mail show images.
5) always use BCC when sending to a group
6) teach everyone you know #4 and #5
anti on Jul 12, 2007
Preach on, brother.
And if I ever hear you actually spent some money on the spam thing,
Gosh I am speachless about that.
iqon on Jul 12, 2007
Item 5) in the FIGHT SPAM above should have said:
5) always use BCC when sending to a group, always delete addresses when forwarding email.
anti on Jul 12, 2007
Can we get you on the TV?
iqon on Jul 13, 2007
Why, I can't get my own family & friends to follow #4 & #5.
In 2001 I created this page, Blind a Virus, trying to get friends to use BCC. Absolutely no effect.
Spam and abused copyright laws get me riled up.

i very rarely get spammed these days, so when i do, i work with every tool available to find out more about the company, the hosting server, the person in charge, and all of their contact info, then post it all on blogs and other various sites. (its truly great when the spamming company has a 1-800 number.. call after normal business hours, and put in a good cd into the pc, then set the phone next to the speaker... ;-P
now onto the actual spam. i have also got this lately, and determined:
It is a land line.
562-Is a california area code
checking against the time the spam was recieved, -3hrs would put it in california.
the phone number is provided by 'Broadwing Commincations LLC'
it is in Alamitos, CA
ive been doing this for about 15 minutes, and will update any other info i find.

I think SmockLady is smocking us...
@iQon you are righter than right. I can't get anybody to do it or understand it. I can not get rid of a life coach who got me off a forward email (it took me forever to figure out the path). I'll coach his life for him.
