Soooooo..... slooooooowww...
Anyone else experiencing exceptionally slow site performance lately? It's been almost completely unbearable the last few days.
Is it just me? Other sites work fine it seems. Is there something going on behind the scenes at the buffet that's clogging the pipes?

MrDee on Jun 11, 2007
the pipes must be full or something.

Not just slooooow, completely unavailable for most of the day in the UK. It's been down all morning again. I emailed the chefs to ask what goeth on forsooth!

Well, they must have gotten the mice out of the gears or something. I'm not having any problems, at the moment. Over the last few days I kept getting the "something went wrong" screen.

Still slow loading though
Winnopeg on Jun 11, 2007
The site's been down for everyone on and off for the past few days. Iconmaster said in another thread that the problem should be fixed, though.
I sure hope it is...

Major slowness. I click a link then back to work and recheck in about 5 minutes. Ah...I remember the days of 18K modems.
FallenAngel on Jun 11, 2007
Major slowness here as well when the sites actually been up the last few days, and it doesn't seem to coincide with general internet congestion either - others are loading just fine.
JBVisions on Jun 11, 2007
It's slow now. I click and go off do other stuff then come back.

18k modem? I am cruising at 9000 baud here.

The 'new' IB has always been slow for me, I just thought it was their server or (I hope not) their code, and I'm on DSL. I think they're using freebsd for the server - so I don't think it's that.

Wow.. a new level of "slow" has just been reached. I just now received the email notification for the Tokyo Mad Scientist delivery. Today. Even though that set was delivered about 2 weeks ago.
That's ridiculous.
JBVisions on Jun 14, 2007
I just got it as well.
Howdy JBVisions!
IconBuffet Chef iconmaster just sent you
Tokyo Mad Scientist, a Bronze Free Delivery from IconBuffet.
tamashii on Jun 14, 2007
@mcd: The chefs stated that the delivery messages were intentionally spaced out to help alleviate server strain. However, 2 weeks after the fact is a might much, even for aiding server load.
More unusual is receiving the notification that someone left a message in my box several hours after they’ve done so. Why? I can’t see the rationale for a delay on those emails.
Hopefully (and it has been mentioned), IB will get some shiny boxes in the not-to-distant future to help this site’s performance issues.
Elsewhere: nothing says popularity like holding a “Send Me A Set For Real Moneyz” contest to bring a website to its knees.
jameshilton on Jun 14, 2007
Ive been using firefox instead of IE, its definatly much quicker!
mcd on Jun 15, 2007
Honestly, the idea that messages are deliberately delayed because of server strain doesn't ease my frustration with the site's performance. If anything, that would make me more concerned with how the site is running and what happens as more users sign up.
I'm sure the chefs are hard at work on fixing things, and many of these problems are the result of the unexpected popularity of the new system. But for now, I can't justify renewing my VIP subscription while I get notifications two weeks late and the site is painfully slow to navigate.
Someone said early on in the early days of the new system that this should be considered a beta phase. I didn't believe it at the time, but now I think that person was right. There are still too many bugs, bottlenecks, and yet-to-be-released features.

Hmmm... Haven't been seeing any problems on my end.
