OK....
here I go again....
tried to post a jpeg (50x50)2.05K stating I have no tokens left...and now I lost my avatar too? again?
what am I not doing correctly?
HELP!!

pick .GIF - if you can save .JPG, then you should be able to save .GIF, right?

BTW why does it not work in JPEG? I thought it was a good format for the web?

While it's odd that you're having problems using a .jpg for your avatar (mine is a .jpg - maybe it's because your file had a .jpeg extension instead of .jpg?), for the av that you've got, a gif actually makes more senss. This is because gif files are very good at reproducing low-color images such as text or simple logos. Those types of graphics can get a little ugly with the .jpg compression.

Just a thought - aren't avatars supposed to be 48x48, rather than 50x50? Could that have something to do with it? :)
