Blinksale: Easy, painless, online invoicing for small businesses

2 Job Openings at Rakuten USA, Boston

Do all you other people (whose work involves the web) receive job offers, requests and information regarding positions that have nothing to do with your particular specialty? I do! So why not share the information wealth? I'll start:

Cambridge, MA, USA Rich Internet Application Developer, IBM
I have no affiliation with IBM. Someone who works there sent me this.

You may want to refer them to post their job listings at the Authentic Jobs site. I've heard good things about it. ;)

JBVisions on Jun 05, 2007

Loads. I always bin them without opening them.

This afternoon I got a phone call from an outsourcing company trying to place bricklayers with me. Apparently they did a search on development and assumed it was for housing.

Its always good to forward these things around till they find the right person.

Who's great with Flash and wants free, tropical vacations for life? Some folks at Harvard Business School have a design need that typical firms would charge big bucks for, but that isn't actually that tough for a Flash whiz. However, they have no cash to pay. Perhaps they spent it on the Private Island where they're building a private, luxury resort. In any case, as compensation for the design work, they are offering complimentary usage rights on the island. If an IB-er gets this gig, you HAVE to tell us!

JBVisions on Jul 28, 2007

Nice but you kind of need some cash to get there in the first place.

maldenjen on Jul 28, 2007

Well, you always need cash to get to your vacation spot. But I think a good negotiator would get it into the contract. Seriously, it's a real project. HBS people don't mess around much. It has low VC up-front with a high possible return. They're offering equity, too. I'm not good enough alone to design this for them, but I am a very good project manager and sales person. If a couple of you IB-ers have the chops for this, I am very willing to put a proposal together under the umbrella of my small business. ~mj

ZsaZsa on Jul 29, 2007

Do you really think they are HBS? Their vocab and grammar are not so much.

maldenjen on Jul 29, 2007

@DudeDean: I tried to see your link but it didn't seem to work. But what's wrong with the delliscay site? It looks nice to me...
I'm not sure what you meant. There's not a competition. It's just an RFP, right?

@ZsaZsa:I don't think biz school folks are really known for great grammar, unfortunately. I know quite a few HBS-ers. They are motivated, connected, and good at business, but not necessarily great writers. Also, many are foreign, with an excellent, if imperfect, command of English. Hey, didn't W go there? But it's not a terrible post. I saw a bad apostrophe. Not much of a surprise these days... :(
Certainly anyone can fib online. I'm here in Boston, so if they cannot, for example, meet me at an HBS office, then it's a problem. I would not get involved if it weren't legitimate. But I would also not bother with a proposal to them without a solid team, you know?

Cheers! ~mj
