Icon Artists: What's your favorite Authoring Tool?

Hello Icon Artists!

I've a quick question I'm hoping you can help out with: What program/application/tool do you prefer to use to create your icons?

I'm on a PC and I'm looking for something beginner to intermediate level to create Favicons for websites.

Any input appreciated!

..k..

P.S. Please no "Why aren't you using a Mac" posts ;-)

well since nobody answered so far... there is a post already about apps specifically for making icons (it can't be too far, i saw it not long ago), bur as for me, for favicons i just use illustrator, take a detail of the design or the logo and reduce it to 32x32 px, redraw if necessary, export the slice in whatever format is best for the image and then change the extension to .ico by hand. works so far...

hope that helps you... you can do a lot with illustrator.

Which brings up a good point... is there a search somewhere to check if a topic has already posted to the forums? I don't see one, but I may have missed it...

whoisgregg created a nice page to use Goggle to search Iconbuffet:
Google search IB
You can manually do the same thing yourself by using the advanced search tools in Google, but why bother when this one is easier.
Three cheers to whoisgregg!
