IconBuffet Widget

Here is one of our newest creations: the IconBuffet Widget. The widget allows you to send icons to your friends straight from the OS X Dashboard. It looks pretty spiffy, too!

ChickAzul on Jun 19, 2007

pretty :D

JBVisions on Jun 19, 2007

Rushes off to grab the iBook.

debbye on Jun 19, 2007

"easier to spam you with, my pretty!"

quote from Wizard of OZ

SpasticNate on Jun 19, 2007

Very slick, if I only had a Mac...

iconmaster on Jun 19, 2007

Note that if you have a huge friends list, it will take the widget a while to load them up. It'll seem to be hanging on the delivery selection pane while this happens. It's okay, just give it time.

anej on Jun 19, 2007

It looks great!

bcarneiro on Jun 19, 2007

for Mac only, huh?

jameshilton on Jun 19, 2007

just popping out to buy a Mac. :}

smfh25 on Jun 19, 2007

yet another reason to join the Mac family! I may cross over very soooon!!!

tamashii on Jun 19, 2007

Will give it a whirl.

I am still a bit curious as to the actual usefulness of something that seemingly only works for blind-spamming of sets.

And I am definitely gonna have to cull through my Friends List. Insanity! LOL

dGreen Vip-micro on Jun 19, 2007

Oh that looks very slick. Excellent work :)

Nokiko on Jun 19, 2007

mm does this mean that soon we will have an API tp program our own gadgets?

Stratification on Jun 19, 2007

Have to give it a look when I get home to my Mac :D

travisseitler Vip-micro on Jun 19, 2007

I'm running 10.3.9, so I suppose I have to wait for the Yahoo/Konfabulator port...

KatieK on Jun 19, 2007

Very snazzy. But, no Mac for me since I'm very cheap. How about a FireFox add-on?

nightgigjo Vip-micro on Jun 19, 2007

cool

:)

I like Mac-only applications. It makes me feel like a Windows-user. ^^;

brandy on Jun 19, 2007

i have a mac.. and yet i think a firefox add-on would be more useful. i'm not so into widgets. then again, i probably wouldn't use the add-on either, unless it said "so-and-so has 3 tokens left" or something similar

Blabby on Jun 19, 2007

Who's got it working? Can we see it in action?

dyar on Jun 19, 2007

@apbeaty - take Amsterdam High Seas from me and I'll send it to you through the Widget

P0lka on Jun 19, 2007

Very nice :)

gswd on Jun 19, 2007

It does look very nice. I am not yet sure of the usefulness.

And since I have now totally busted both my Windows and Linux boxes, I am Mac only for awhile.

dyar on Jun 19, 2007

It's not very Sniper friendly. You can only send it to someone that is on your Friends List, and then it is a 2 step process: First select the set from the pull down menu; then turn it over and select a Friend from your friends list.

MrDee on Jun 19, 2007

Any chance for a re-write to a Yahoo widget? (cross platform)

emed795 on Jun 19, 2007

Besides, MrDee's suggestion are there any plans an releasing an API for Icon Buffet so we can write our own widgets?

heinzelman on Jun 19, 2007

ahhh 12% of the users are now enabled :)

beneton on Jun 20, 2007

Ooh..spiffy! I've always wanted to switch to mac..

And yeah, a firefox addon would be awesome!

whowantstodisco on Jun 20, 2007

This is awesome. :D I love it.

justG Vip-micro on Jun 20, 2007

Don't use Dashboard, but the widget is a funky valentine. Lub. Thanks, Chefs.

me2orion on Jun 20, 2007

this is the coolest thing i've seen today. thanks.

ACiDbaby on Jun 20, 2007

awww... too bad it there isn't a windows version too.

JBVisions on Jun 21, 2007

I installed it last night. Very cool and it didn't take too long to load 350 odd friends.

mhayes on Jun 21, 2007

Brilliant

RussellB on Jun 22, 2007

Give me a Vista's version.

LuckyLuke on Jun 22, 2007

Nicely done :)

But I'm not an OS X user :P

Forevagrey on Jun 22, 2007

guess everyone but mac users are stuck on this problem. Unless Steve Jobs gone insane like he did with safari and start to allow us to use mac widgets on windows.

a2 Vip-micro on Jun 23, 2007

Another good reason to convert to a mac =)

briandelicata on Jun 23, 2007

Thnx - loving it!

solidus on Jun 25, 2007

Darn, I don't have an OSX.

StandardSociety on Jun 28, 2007

Hey I first saw this on the Firewheel Design site. I looks really good.

Neuen on Jun 28, 2007

Hip Hip Hooray; I just noticed I still have your ShortStat widget installed you always do a swell job.

tamashii on Jun 29, 2007

i am jealous of your ingenuity

cry187 on Jul 02, 2007

I delivered 2 icons via IB widget but my friend didn't received it any of it :(

cbest Vip-micro on Jul 02, 2007

Oooh, I love widgets. Thanks Keegan, it's awesome!

Techokami on Jul 04, 2007

How about something for the Linux users here? Like something for gDesklets? Please? =)

Jallits on Sep 15, 2007

WTH? The widget won't accept my username or password. Anybody have a similar problem? Better yet, anybody have a solution.

gswd on Oct 05, 2007

This puppy needs to be fixed, or it is going in the trash. It used to say that I had -5 stamps. After receiving the Pumpkin Eve 3 set, it showed that I had -15 stamps. Meanwhile my bank showed me with +5 stamps. Ok, Ok. Maybe it won't matter, so I went to send PE3 to my sponsored VIP, and it returned the message of "oops you don't have enough stamps". LIKE *bleep* I DON'T!! So instead, I had to send it the old fashioned way, using the website - ho-hum how boring.

Hope this "new" game/project is built better.

elnitido52 on Oct 05, 2007

Live and let die...
The "New game" is stealing all the attention, time and resources. Good luck!

thedudedean on Oct 05, 2007

How about something for the Windows people?

gswd on Oct 06, 2007

I would say that I was apathetic about the whole thing, but I just don't care enough.

gswd on Oct 08, 2007

Well, now with the new set released and my stamps all used by sending through the website, I now have -20 stamps showing on the widget. This means the widget is useless for me to send sets, and is therefore a waste of computer space. And since nobody at the buffet seems to care that the widget isn't working, or they aren't reading the forums anymore, then I guess IB has now got to move down a notch on the "coolness" list.

gswd on Oct 09, 2007

Since non of the great powers have decided to respond to this issue either to let us know that a new build of the widget has been posted, or that they have fixed whatever was causing the stamp error in the widget, I have removed the widget from service on my computer. And yes, I believe that the new "game" will be plagued with pitfalls and errors just like the widget and IB.

MacManX Vip-micro on Oct 10, 2007

I don't believe that the widget is an official part of IB, otherwise the download link would be listed somewhere other than this thread. From what I've read, it's something Keegan put together in his free time for his own personal use, and he's kindly offering it to anyone who would find it useful.

Technically, the widget is third-party, so the chefs are not obligated to support or maintain it, and since it is freeware, Keegan also has no such obligation.
