I saw a tweet where you said you were "booting into XP and playing Guild Wars". That is really neat, because I have never seen anybody else mention Guild Wars before. And yes, I do play as well, sometimes more often than others.

Hey G, sorry you didn't like Firefly more-- at least you liked Serenity. I'm not a fan of Westerns either, but I love the writing, the characters, the humor, and the silence in space.

coucou chérie ! je me suis dit comme ça que je passerais te dire bonjour, parce que ça fait un 'tit moment... tu vas bien ? j'ai eu du mal à accéder à IB ces derniers jours donc j'ai dû rater des trucs. j'essaie de me rattraper ! (en vrai c'est que j'ai pas envie de bosser... je sais, c'est mal.)

sinon, après un mois de mai pourri de chez pourri, c'est enfin l'été ici. la preuve : je me suis bataillée style john woo dans un duel à la mort avec un moustique de la taille d'un moineau hier soir. salopards. je hais les moustiques ! heureusement, c'est moi qui ai gagné ! :) il fait beau chez toi ?

Just wanted to drop in 'cuz it's been awhile but since it seems to be the current topic I'll add my vote for Firefly. It's been awhile since I've seen any of the episodes but I finally saw the Serenity movie not long ago, from the library.

One of the few DVDs I have is another 1-season show, Wonderfalls, from some of the same people as Firefly. I think that although it's sad something well done ends prematurely, the single season sometimes makes for a better story. I've been sort-of watching the second season of Afterlife and the whole time it's nagging me that I can't appreciate whether it's well done or not because as far as I was concerned, the story ended with season 1 and everything after somehow dilutes it.

Seriously, almost everyone I've loaned my DVD set to has become a fan. They all say the same thing-- I've heard about 8 variations on, "I can't believe they canceled this show-- it's so good!" <g>

I think Firefly is Whedon's best work to date, actually. It does take a while to get into because it's so unusual (especially the dialogue), but after a few episodes you'll be hooked. Just wait 'til "Our Mrs. Reynolds". :D

<snicker> Yeah, it's definitely worth checking out. Not that it doesn't have its problems, mind you. The quality of the writing is very uneven-- sometimes it's brilliant, and sometimes it just makes me want to grab the writers and shake them. But the characters and stories are mostly interesting & well done, and the actors are nearly all excellent. Considering the subject matter it's got a surprising amount of charm & humor-- alongside much darker & grittier material, obviously. I've only seen the first 3 seasons though, and I have the impression that the quality has generally gone downhill in later seasons. Simone and Mandana have *amazing* onscreen chemistry, which was the main draw for me, and as they left the show at the end of series 3, I haven't been all that motivated to acquire the later ones.
