Tornado Downtime : (

Hey everyone — Just wanted to keep you up to snuff on the downtime last night and this afternoon. Some strong thunderstorms and tornados hit the Dallas area last night including the neighborhood where our data center is located.

Anyhow, last night's outage was directly a result of the tornado. This afternoon's outage appears to be our datacenter still trying to get their act together. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Back to your pixels!

Ahh, relief... at last :o)

Cheers!

Whoa! Is everyone alright over thataway? :-o

josh Vip-micro on Apr 10, 2008

I actually slept through it last night. And I live about 10 miles away. Hopefully our datacenter will get their act together now too. I can't imagine the stress of having to hunker down in a server farm. Ugg.

miranoriel on Apr 10, 2008

Weeeell, okay. If you guys are alright, then it's all good. :)

i've been in 2, one of them ripped off my roof while i was panicking inside! very scary, them tornadoes …

marcelofigueroa on Apr 10, 2008

Scary...

a2 Vip-micro on Apr 10, 2008

Glad it wasn't worse. Things seem to be running pretty well now.

kya Vip-micro on Apr 11, 2008

Jeeze, that is really scary! But as long as everyone is okay that is the main thing. The idea of Tornadoes and Hurricanes freaks me out because we don't have any in Australia. We just have an entourage of killer animals.

marcelofigueroa on Apr 11, 2008

Here in Chile we've got huge earthquakes from time to time, and large tsunamis too. But most shakes are harmless and imperceptible; and even though most of them happen under our sea (it's quite a large probability since our geography) we rarely see the water moving... I mean, we live next to the Pacific Ocean.

We don't have tornadoes or hurricanes, neither we have killer animals because of our naturally uninhabitable-frontiers: sea to the west, Andes mountain range to the east and Atacama desert to the north :op

Here in europe tornados are very rare. Without wanting to make a huge discussion, catastrophes in america are a little bit self made by the humans ...

thedudedean on Apr 11, 2008

Hope everyone in Dallas is OK.

alicevian Vip-micro on Apr 11, 2008

Glad to know you're all right!

KatieK on Apr 11, 2008

Glad everyone's OK. I had all of my websites hosted with a provider in New Orleans when Katrina hit. They valiantly kept everything up for a whole week afterwards.

heinzelman on Apr 11, 2008

sounds like ya'll need to issue a weather advisory icon set :) Glad all is well

RE: catastrophes in america are a little bit self made by the humans

Now that be funny. Me remembers reading 'bout all the hurricanes created by Americans in the 15th and 16th century that sank scores of Spanish Galleons. Aye 'nd everyone be knowin' thar not be tornadoes until American Interstate highways and automobiles got the air a spinnin'. Nay, the only humans creatin' tornadoes be them X mutants and designers of trailer parks. Me monkey swears the aluminum skin on trailers be interferin' with electrical fields which be attracting tornadoes.

Avast! A tornado, hurricane, or trailer trash divorce means but one thing:
someone is fixin' to lose a mobilehome

Lol, sounds like some good set ideas in this thread but I am glad you are all ok. Up here in the northeast US we only have snow problems most of the time.
