Super TOP SECRET Update - PART 3

I promised a couple updates this week, so here's the first one. I'm not going to spill much, but I'll offer a few gems about what we're working one.

First, it DEFINITELY involves icons. Lots and lots of icons.

Second, the icons in general tend to be larger than the icons here at IconBuffet.

Third, the game — as I see it — is a bit like what would happen if Monopoly and Hot Potato got together and had a love child with a bent for chemistry.

Fourth, the game is wasting a lot of my time right now.

Finally, the game will show its face before the end of the October.

Kuifje Vip-micro on Oct 03, 2007

I'm still trying to picture Monopoly, Hot Potato and chemistry...

rajr19 on Oct 03, 2007

and thanks for a timeline. end of october? awesome.

rossanyl on Oct 03, 2007

hot potato?!? what it that?!?

rajr19 on Oct 03, 2007

hot potato is where you have a "hot" potato and pass it around before you get "burnt"....

or at least i think... hehe.

terremom Vip-micro on Oct 03, 2007

Fifth comment! Hot potato is a game from long, long ago when people had no computers, video games electronic anythings (yes, Virginia there was such a time...). You passed an item around as quickly as possible until an alarm rang or someone yelled stop. The person left holding the item was out. Josh, you gotta remember some of the Ibers are really kids, even younger than you.

terremom Vip-micro on Oct 03, 2007

Not that I'm old...(just a grandmother);) who's ready for some action packed IB fun!

josh Vip-micro on Oct 03, 2007

It's probably be more accurate to describe this as like backwards hot potato. ; )

dustybunny on Oct 03, 2007

sounds good. I can't wait to see what we're looking at. really happy to have a timeline. I look forward to knowing even more.

KatieK on Oct 03, 2007

I like the idea of bigger icons... :)

debragail on Oct 03, 2007

Sort of like musical chairs?

anti on Oct 03, 2007

Grandmothers are not old. :)

terremom Vip-micro on Oct 03, 2007

anti, you are right as usual. (it's just SOMETIMES some people think that anyone who's old enough, is too old. We're just still young enough to enjoy it.

terremom Vip-micro on Oct 03, 2007

Josh, forget the potatoes, I'll bring rice. Let's just bring on the game.

elnitido52 on Oct 03, 2007

Not all Grandmothers or Grandfathers arrr...

elnitido52 on Oct 03, 2007

Even though some arrr...
Not you terre...

anti on Oct 03, 2007

Old enough to know better...young enough not to care.

elnitido52 on Oct 03, 2007

Arrr...

elnitido52 on Oct 04, 2007

@Josh: First, it DEFINITELY involves icons. Lots and lots of icons.

Icons, IB Anonymous arrr... Icon lovers and Sets lovers too...so are there lots ans lots of sets involved too?

Second, the icons in general tend to be larger than the icons here at IconBuffet.

Lager, better, as some people here, including myself, have been requesting. Very Interesting!
Shiver me timbers, here at IconBuffet. means another place (physically speaking).
Or is it another game (based on IB) under the same roof?

Third, the game — as I see it — is a bit like what would happen if Monopoly and Hot Potato got together and had a love child with a bent for chemistry.

If you tell me that IconBuffet 2.0.0.7 - as I see it - will be Updated to version 3.0.0.0 then I would agree. But if you tell me that "the new game" is totally new (as a result of some kind of Hybrid) I might not go in that direction. Why? Because I have been devoted to IconBuffet (here) ever since we met. I believe I won't have the time, and maybe the desire, necessary to succeed in "the new game".

Fourth, the game is wasting a lot of my time right now.

I really think it should be replaced by "demanding", why? Because if you say "wasting" would be like saying that "what is coming is not good enough".
Better, I am "investing" a lot of my time now to make sure things would be better in "the new game".

Finally, the game will show its face before the end of the October.

A Time for Everything
1 There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven—
2 A time to give birth and a time to die;
A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal;
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to weep and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn and a time to dance.
5 A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing.
6 A time to search and a time to give up as lost;
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear apart and a time to sew together;
A time to be silent and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to hate;
A time for war and a time for peace.

I love IconBuffet
Arrr...

potatoes are good.

elnitido52 on Oct 04, 2007

Alone...

elnitido52 on Oct 04, 2007

Arrr... Ecclesiastes 3:2

JBVisions on Oct 04, 2007

So does this mean the buffet as it is now will be replaced?

debbye on Oct 04, 2007

naw! (i HOPE) sounds like … in addition to IB, they're opening a produce stand. i hope they are going to use organic groceries, non or these chemicals. we already have the vege icons!

i'm too tired to be doing this! g'nite!

JBVisions on Oct 04, 2007

Nite.

BTW for those in the UK, our equivalent of Hot Potato is Pass the Parcel.

VINZ on Oct 04, 2007

french : "la patate chaude" ;)
can't wait to try this!!

Simon on Oct 04, 2007

It's really too soon to tell, but right now I wonder if there's room for another icon-game, next to IconBuffet. If it would replace IB (like a better version) I would understand it. Ah well, we'll see. :)

beneton on Oct 04, 2007

"Finally, the game will show its face before the end of the October."

Yay! I'm sure we're all excited. Can't wait to see it! ;D

ubergeek2 on Oct 04, 2007

"Hot potato, pass it on..." I'm guessing that has something to do with it. But monopoly? I don't know, Josh...

ubergeek2 on Oct 04, 2007

Oh yeah. larger icons = vectors? or images?

JBVisions on Oct 04, 2007

Monopoly - you can buy sets then mortgage them to get more stamps?

Good idea but US mortgages are a bone of contention in the UK right at this moment because we're having to subsidise the non-payers so our interest rates have gone through the roof. If that's the way the game works you might like to come up with a better word than Mortgage.

JBVisions on Oct 04, 2007

Talking of stamps..... in between setting up the game, any chance of us getting our stuck ones back? That seems to have stopped working again.

gswd on Oct 04, 2007

I worry that with this new information that it will be a big time consumer, if you want to succeed in the "game". The "hot potato" in reverse almost doesn't make sense in a sharing aspect. "in Reverse" wold mean that you want to end up with the potato and the end of the time limit, which would keep people from passing it. Unless there are bonuses for the number of "hands" that touched your potato in the time frame.

thehack on Oct 04, 2007

...opposite of hot potato - maybe that means similar to a white elephant Christmas exchange - where your goal is to end up with the item you want after a series of unavoidable trades...

FallenAngel on Oct 04, 2007

Eeep! Something that takes up more time? ;-) (though I'm sure it will be indeedly ubercool...and I'm still trying to figure out the Monopoly/Hot Pototo/chemistry love child thing...)

dyar on Oct 04, 2007

I trust that this is web based and will work with Macs also.

terremom Vip-micro on Oct 04, 2007

If I plant Potatoes on Park Place in the Hot sun, using a Chemistry set from my Children that I Love can We get started? I Can't Wait Much Longer...............

Q1475 Vip-micro on Oct 04, 2007

super cool! can't wait to see what you guys are up to.

KAHRules on Oct 04, 2007

I wonder if requires a subscription (meaning will it be able to generate the revenue needed to survive)

gswd on Oct 04, 2007

Hold on. I just thought of something. Maybe this is a buzzword hype generated message. After all, isn't McD's running THEIR Monopoly game now?

SuperLlamel on Oct 04, 2007

Sweet! Before the end of October!

danielsemper on Oct 04, 2007

So IB will not be so cool anymore?

The new game will have new and bigger icons?

I feel this should also be implemented here, don't let IB become uncool in front of the new brother U_U

laulena on Oct 04, 2007

yay! keep us posted!

elnitido52 on Oct 05, 2007

Abandoning IB, or not paying attention to it, is a very bad example for the new game...

Pootee2 on Oct 05, 2007

and can we have the email working please?

dyar on Oct 05, 2007

I promised a couple updates this week, so here's the first one.

It's Friday and we've only received one update this week, time for another one.

elnitido52 on Oct 05, 2007

No new sets either?
It's Friday October 5th. and no new sets for the month. Think this month is going to be worst that September.

iconmaster on Oct 05, 2007

I trust that this is web based and will work with Macs also.

You can't get more Mac than Firewheel Design. In no particular order, we make use of MacBook Pros, Mac Minis, iMacs, Xserves and iPhones.

So yes, Mac users will be able to play. ;)

Finah Vip-micro on Oct 05, 2007

ooh a new game! ::popcorn::

opello on Oct 05, 2007

Backward hot potato ... "gotta catch them all?"

kymom Vip-micro on Oct 09, 2007

Starry on Oct 10, 2007

This sounds insanely fun.

I'm ready to sign up! Where's the sheet?

triptych on Oct 26, 2007

Here's my guess: everyone will be able to create their own icons and other folks can build upon them and share em....
