Blinksale: Easy, painless, online invoicing for small businesses

Notification Preferences

Alrighty then. We've finally rolled out the oft-requested feature for account notifications. Visit your Account page today to select whether or not you'd like to receive email notifications for Deliveries received, friend requests, or comments and whispers on your box. If you're the kind a person who already lives on the Buffet and would prefer to not receive email notifications, now you can turn them off. Just remember to come to the site and clean out your profile from time to time. Enjoy!

Excellent!

Luckybeitia on May 23, 2007

Great!

anti on May 23, 2007

Just keeps getting better!

Winnopeg on May 23, 2007

Now where's the setting to make it so that the emails don't come several days after the delivery? :)

KAHRules on May 23, 2007

I thought I was the only one receiving late delivery notifications.

anti on May 23, 2007

I think I heard somewhere that was done on purpose to prevent server overload.

bjendrick on May 23, 2007

No, iconmaster had mentioned that the e-mails are typically delayed a bit for new sets to reduce server load. I'm surprised that it would be a few days though. Seems unlikely.

iconmaster on May 23, 2007

We are actually right this minute installing some new server hardware, including a dedicated email box. So the timeliness of notifications should be improving soon.

bjendrick on May 23, 2007

Very sweet! You guys continue to rock IB with the improvements.

Winnopeg on May 23, 2007

@iconmaster: I just got two emails from things that happened today. =)

dyar on May 23, 2007

Does opting out of email delivery notifications also block Free Delivery emails from the Chefs? If so, that should change so that users get at least one email a month which would remind them to come to the Site, pick up their freebie, and hopefully make Icon requests to use up their Tokens.

THANKS SO MUCH!

If you were a giant robot, would you use your powers for good, or for awesome?

In this case I think the answer is awesome!

debbye on May 23, 2007

… sweet! … very.

VINZ on May 23, 2007

great news ;)

jaslr on May 23, 2007

good news, thanks guys!

dustybunny on May 23, 2007

Thanks guys. Great new feature. Keep up the good work.

brandy on May 23, 2007

Hey, awesome! My only wish now: for the *really* free deliveries (the ones that require no tokens) to have a separate setting from other deliveries. This will be helpful for those of us who aren't VIP!

josh Vip-micro on May 23, 2007

Free Deliveries from the Chefs will always be emailed. There is no way to turn those off (at this point). Of course they are also far less frequent.

We did in fact just add a new box to the rack to handle notifications. It's still not completely set up yet, but will be in the next few days. This should allow us to notify you right away of new developments on the site.

gswd on May 23, 2007

I think that this is very nice, especially since we can now get a notification on Box entries.

However, the bit about having to enter my password so that I can save a change in my email notifications....not so pleasant.

lisamac on May 24, 2007

Booyah! I think you guys should start managing Twitter. They're good and everything, but really. You guys go WAY beyond the expected, weekly. I'm constantly amazed by y'all.

mik on May 24, 2007

Yay! Thanks much, chefs.

ubergeek2 on May 24, 2007

Super!

fdev on May 24, 2007

Good stuff...

Now I'm wondering whether we could get notification option for new comments in the blog we posted as well. :P

josh Vip-micro on May 24, 2007

fdev — we're working on that too. We need to make sure we've got our performance basis covered, but it's covered.

fdev on May 24, 2007

@josh: ah.. that's good to know.. cheers! :)

Are emails still being delayed? I got my fresh delivery (sushinobi!) but no email so far and I'm wondering if that's because they haven't gone out or if it's because my account is set to not send email notifications. Or just email gremlins.

josh Vip-micro on May 24, 2007

@mik — Yes, they are being delayed a few hours so that we don't kill the site. We'll be moving notifications onto another server shortly, so that'll speed things up.

NatetheGreat on May 24, 2007

Looking good!

You know what would be really cool, is if you added the option to consolidate all notifications, so a member could only receive a message once a week with all delivery, friend, and box notifications conveniently placed in one e-mail. *goes to clean out all his box notifications* :P

NatetheGreat on May 24, 2007

It seems like if you did that, it would also lesson the load on your survers...

*longs for a post edit button*

mik on May 24, 2007

Thanks josh, the email has since arrived - confirming that fresh delivery messages still come through when notification is off. Excellent.

Hey, friend language had changed! I've got a 'X is already your friend' message and the link now says 'Dismiss'

rdunlop on May 24, 2007

As a vocal requestor of this feature, just wanted to thank you guys for delivering. Thank you!

rdunlop on May 24, 2007

Or, I guess not delivering (emails)!

Simon on May 28, 2007

I just received a notification because I posted a comment in my own box. Would it be too much trouble to exclude those? :)
