Boycoting Modenatroid...

Please DONT send Modenatroid to me!
I will only collect this set when i'm overloaded with tokens and there is nothing else to collect.

Why?

jameshilton on Oct 12, 2007

Because i dont think its worth 5 tokens and i want to save my last 5 for a good set.

SuperLlamel on Oct 12, 2007

Oh. I think it being gold is a little iffy, but it should at least be a silver.

bcarneiro on Oct 12, 2007

I agree... It's not worth 5 tokens.

chrisharrison on Oct 12, 2007

Aren't all of the sets weighted subjectively? Some people might like the Modena icons. (For the record, I prefer Manhattan...)

Reiji Vip-micro on Oct 12, 2007

I like Modena...but 5 tokens are a little too much...anyway, after I collect some other modena I may get this one too. :P

bkendall on Oct 12, 2007

does it really matter in the grand scheme of things whether it is rated gold or silver? The chefs felt it deserved a gold and it seems silly to moan about it IMHO

rossanyl on Oct 12, 2007

the question is why did the chef changed the value of this set from Bronze set (before release) to Gold set (after release)?!?

Reiji Vip-micro on Oct 12, 2007

And why he thinks it worths more than Legend of Modena? sob.

Nell Vip-micro on Oct 12, 2007

Iconmaster explained here.

SuperLlamel on Oct 12, 2007

Have the chefs ever changed the value of a set after it's been previewed or is this the first one?

ChickAzul on Oct 12, 2007

I think this is the first time

rossanyl on Oct 12, 2007

@Nell - thanks for the link to the explanation

travisseitler on Oct 12, 2007

You're such a post-Modenaist, James. ;)

cheiie on Oct 12, 2007

IB is full of icons suited to a multitude of tastes. Not everyone is going to like every set, that's how it goes.

What I don't quite understand is all of the negativity about a set. That's the chefs' work you're talking about - their creativity. They're not asking for critiques of style, they're simply making icons to satisfy a large group of people.

Put it like this, I don't go to the Guggenheim, pull down my pants, and poop on a Monet because I prefer Manet. Do you?

James, this is not towards you - you said you didn't want the set in order to avoid being "spammed" with it, fair enough. But as for the rest, there have been several negative comments about the set all over the board.

Granf on Oct 12, 2007

would work great fo ra space-theme desktop. If I had tokens, that is. :(

debragail on Oct 12, 2007

It does seem "expensive" compared to the other Modena sets, I think the AlphaNumeric ones were undervalued though, I see them all as silver. I think perhaps the Chefs are righting past undervaluations.

anti on Oct 12, 2007

@debragail I think you are right.

Actually this one has some outstanding artwork. Made me want to go out and make a dark website, even thought I am not familiar with the gamer connotations!

elnitido52 on Oct 12, 2007

Many sets have been undervalued before...this one is a great set that was correctly revalued before been released...happy birthday again Chef Brian Basher...It was released for your birthday and nobody but you to design it...arrr...

soprano on Oct 12, 2007

@elnitido52: Please don't post blank messages—it messes up the spacing of the layout.

elnitido52 on Oct 12, 2007

@cheiie - Totally agree but where it says:
Put it like this, I don't go to the Guggenheim, pull down my pants, and poop on a Monet because I prefer Manet. Do you?

PLease, poo on Manet, because I prefer Monet.

elnitido52 on Oct 12, 2007

@Soprano: I had to close something that I had left opened...anything else?

soprano on Oct 12, 2007

Mmm... at least post a period or comma or something.

elnitido52 on Oct 12, 2007

.,something

cheiie on Oct 12, 2007

Soprano, you're being obnoxious.

soprano on Oct 12, 2007

Meh.

cheiie on Oct 12, 2007

I wish I was 14 again, sometimes :)

Toniarrs on Oct 13, 2007

I probably should have read this first lol

FallenAngel on Oct 14, 2007

I agree with cheiie - it's not to my taste (and I'm not working on anything space related) but my 8 year old nephew will probably love it (his bedroom's done out in a space theme).

All of the sets are worthy of a big thumbs up IMHO because the chefs take the time to create them for us for free.

jameshilton on Oct 14, 2007

@fallenAngel.
I totally agree that ALL the sets are great work and the chefs always excell themselves with the amount they manage to produce every month. This set isnt to my taste and i feel over priced at a gold rating compared to some others that have greater detail.

cword on Oct 14, 2007

Why worry about the amt of tokens needed...get the VIP and you will be able to afford all the sets like I have.
Getting the VIP is well worth it in my books.

Kudos to all the chefs!

Cheers
