Modena Simbolo used on new blog

What I needed was two things:
1. a simple photo album online where I could post pictures (not "photography"); and
2. install the latest version of Opera so I could add that to my test battery (and inspects its user stylesheet functionality).

What I ended up with was a new blog. ;)

The idea was to install Opera, and use that to search for a simple album (and meanwhile getting used to it a little). When the installation completed, I ended up at an Opera page, with a link for My Opera — where one can create a photo album. No searching needed: I browsed around a bit, liked what I saw (clean, light code, almost valid), and created an account.

Then I discovered that the pictures I wanted the album for in the first place had the wrong date/time in the EXIF data, so I'll need to repair that before posting them (fiddly). And meanwhile I created a blog. (Note: the alias "iamback" was already taken so I used my alter ego JavaWoman.)

The past few days I've been fiddling with the stylesheet (you can choose an overall theme, and/or use or add your own stylesheet). I just did a bunch of small tweaks: the photograph in the top bar is part of one I took on a market in Yemen, and other colors I'm using are mostly based on that (leaving, and using, the greys already in the scheme since there's some grey in the picture already). Today I topped that off by using some of the icons in the Modena Simbolo set to mark sidebar sections. (I had to fiddle a little for the "favorites" link (on the About page) which I wanted a start for — not to be found in Modena Simbolo, so I cheated and used one icon from Alexandria Atmosphere for that.) Once I have photos posted, the "Photographs" link in the sidebar will use the "palette" icon from Modena Simbolo.

So there you go: my first usage in the wild of IconBuffet icons!

Comments welcome, of course!
