07/07/07 is it your Lucky Day?

All the Vegas Wedding Chapels are booked solid today, one even having a wedding every 7 minutes.

I guess everyone is hoping the date will be lucky for their marriage, or just hoping the date can be remembered by the husbands. I'm sure someone will do a study 10 years from now to see if the divorce rate for people married today is any different for those not married on 07/07/07.

At least I.B. has a cute icon set to help them all celebrate. I call that lucky!

iqon on Jul 07, 2007

I predict divorces from 07/07/07 weddings will be higher. Why? If couples think they need a lucky day to make the marriage last, then they probably shouldn't get married.

Of course what do I know - me and the mizzus have only been married a few years
(26 the last time I counted)

I wonder how many weddings were moved from June 6th last year? (6-6-6)

And what about January 3rd, 2013? (1-3-13)

redben on Jul 07, 2007

This kind of superstitions gives hope for a lot of people. Cool.
I have a brother that was born on 7/7/77 and today is his birthday !

iqon on Jul 07, 2007

@Redben - was your brother the 7th son of a 7th son?

sloan on Jul 07, 2007

7 lotto and 7 powerball tickets here I come...

anti on Jul 07, 2007

I have not been all that lucky today.

cdncx on Jul 07, 2007

iqon, of course, means the 1st of March :P

sloan on Jul 07, 2007

we also dive on the right side hehe

iqon on Jul 07, 2007

@cdncx - oops, forgot to convert to non-US centric date. Why can't the whole world adopt the only logical date format, year-month-day.

anti on Jul 07, 2007

i don't get it.

sloan on Jul 07, 2007

USA dates by month day year :) at least todays date is the same everywhere

sloan on Jul 07, 2007

whoops I was sposed to say drive not dive on the right side, that could be very confusing hehe

iqon on Jul 07, 2007

@anti - hope you are referring to the dates, otherwise "nevermind"

The standard date format in America is MM/DD/YY, however much of the world uses the format DD/MM/YY. . .soooo the combination date 1313 would be Jan 3, 2013 in the US but Mar 1, 2013 else where.

My gripe is neither format sorts correctly when used in a file name. When I save files I usually include the date. For something like an archive I'll name it "bkup-20070628" this makes all the bkup files group together. For other files that are tied to a date event, I'll make the date the first node of the name: D20070630_pre-registered, D20070630_attendees, D20070630_todo_list
This makes all the files group by date.
As you can see I use the format yyyymmdd because it automatically sorts in chronological order.

I thought maybe anti was referring to my 'we dive on the right side' misspelled comment. I'm sure between us we have managed to confuse everyone in this post iqon

iqon on Jul 07, 2007

Chaos and confusion are good, it makes it easier to snipe points.

I thought your "dive on the right" was a superstitious thing you did when SCUBA diving. . . always dive on the starboard side of the boat. . .always mount a horse from the left (gee that can be taken out of context).

anti on Jul 07, 2007

No, I can't figure out how March came into it...

The horse thing is not a superstition, just a matter of control.

iqon on Jul 07, 2007

If you ever spook a horse by using the rightside and get kicked you'll be superstitious about it in the future.

louiemctool on Jul 07, 2007

hehe... mount

:)

which in some places like cdncx stated the month is the second position -3- instead of the first position like here in the states

zelda013 on Jul 08, 2007

i'm with iqon, we should all adopt YYYY/MM/DD as standard date format. (and yes, i too label my files that way... only way that makes sense)

7+7+7+7+7 One Lucky Baby

if only he had been born at 07:07 AM.

dyar on Jul 10, 2007

I saw on Inside Edition tonight that a couple had a baby in Las Vegas that was born on 7/7/07 at 7:07am and weighed 7lbs 7ozs (that's 7 Sevens). The baby's name also has 7 letters in it.
