Glad to see you've got your avatar working! The red X depends on the browser, for me it was just an empty white space. You could always use an image of a red x or all white, but I like what you've got better!

To fix your broken avatar , try saving your image as a GIF or PNG instead of a JPG and uploading again. That seems to work for others with the double dot problem. (If it doesn't work for you, please let me know)

You'll get a cheese badge when you upload an avatar — log out & back in for it to appear. [more handy IB info]
