Favorite pizza toppings?

I just ordered a pizza, and though I wanted toppings I was totally at a loss for what I should try. I ended up going with my usual standby. So.. what are some of your favorite toppings/combinations? Or what are the grossest ones you've heard of/eaten?

I always get chicken and mushrooms.. I love it!! Sometimes extra cheese.. esp if it is deep dish..
But basicly as long as it isn't pepperoni I'll eat just about any pizza!

heinzelman on May 29, 2007

mushrooms

Starry on May 29, 2007

Favorite: sausage, pepperoni, pineapple, olives. (though not all at the same time)
Weirdest ones: gummy worm pizza. (umm... no?)

SpamDog on May 29, 2007

oh don't forget the dessert pizzas that pizza hut has (had?? its been a while) the cinamon apple one was good!

JBVisions on May 29, 2007

Meat Feast, yummmmmmmm

cheiie on May 29, 2007

I still have yet to try pineapple on my pizza. I don't know what my problem is. I love pineapple and I love pizza. There's a disconnect in there somewhere for me.

poscogrubb on May 29, 2007

Favorites: sausage and mushrooms. mushrooms and garlic. tomato and basil.
Weirdest: Jelly Belly jelly beans (with frosting instead of pizza sauce).

debbye on May 29, 2007

ham & pineapple

i thought it was an odd combo, till i tried it. mmmmmmmm!

SpamDog on May 29, 2007

Ham & Pineapple is good.. Usually the call it Hawiian.. Its good too... GAH!! now I have to convince my coworkers that we should order out for pizza..

Kuifje Vip-micro on May 29, 2007

Veggie alternative: grilled eggplant, snow peas, cheese, pine nuts, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach...

gswd on May 29, 2007

I am also a fan of the Hawaiian (Ham and Pineapple), but it is not so good next day cold, or reheated. Medium Dominos thin Hawaiian, delivered and gone, usually.

SpamDog on May 29, 2007

@gswd - I'll eat cold pizza but I prefer it fresh.. I don't know about the thin pizzas tho.. I love either deep dish with some extra cheese.. or the cheese filled crusts are good too.. but chicken & mushroom is my fav.. followed closely by Hawaiian

rajr19 on May 29, 2007

NO SAUCE BABY!

wooot but only from luckys the local place

other than that sausage and cheese. yum yum

debbye on May 29, 2007

didn't Dominos have "Philly CheeseStake" pizza?

someone did … & it was awesome, with added mushrooms & onions!

i'm hungry. thanks y"all!

bcarneiro on May 29, 2007

Funny, I've JUST ordered pizza.

Definitely Tuna!!

cheiie on May 29, 2007

I just ate 2 slices of mine and now I'm full!
Tuna - that's one I've never thought of!

SpamDog on May 29, 2007

@Cheiie - Mail me a few slices.. hehe

dishg on May 29, 2007

tomato basil and cheese - pizza margherite =)

dishg on May 29, 2007

also like chicken and pepperoni...

SuperLlamel on May 29, 2007

I love barbecued chicken and sausage (not together).

cheiie on May 29, 2007

Dishg - there's this tiny, out of the way place here, that makes this amazing pizza margherite with fresh plum tomatoes, drizzled oil (just barely infused with basil and oregano), and crumbled mozz - they make it in personal sizes for $4.00. It's so nice. So yes, I have to agree :)

iconmaster on May 29, 2007

Another vote for ham and pineapple. Now I'm going to go finish off the leftover pizza, which is merely sausage.

dishg on May 29, 2007

@cheiie... do they have a website??? =)

gswd on May 29, 2007

@debbye Yes Dominos was the one that had/has the Philly Cheesesteak pizza. I never tried it. Not a veggie kind of person.

@SpamDog I have nothing against a cold slice of Pizza Hut Pepperoni Lovers, or Meat Lovers. It is just the Hawaiian that does not appeal to me cold. It can be microwaved, but sometimes the pineapple just doesn't quite make it out alive.

justG on May 29, 2007

Tomatoes (yes, extra, fresh ones, in addition to the sauce) and pineapple. Oh, and it can't be from any of the major chains except for the occasional Papa John's.

katylava Vip-micro on May 29, 2007

the perfect pizza for me has pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms, and black olives

justG on May 29, 2007

Mmm... mushrooms and black olives....

Winnopeg on May 29, 2007

Pepperoni and nothing but.

Tachi on May 29, 2007

Buffalo chicken, with buffalo sauce instead of tomato sauce. ^-^

I'll eat any pizza just about, as long as there are no mushrooms or olives or anchovies on it.

maldenjen on May 30, 2007

And what about the crust? I vote for thin.

Bertucci's has a pizza with scallops wrapped in bacon, and another with grilled shrimp and garlic. Tasty, so tasty! As for "neighborhood" toppings, I have to say any meat and artichoke.

When I lived in Japan, corn was a standard topping. I couldn't get into that.

When I lived in Greensboro, NC, there was a place called PieWorks. They had *everything* you could think of, from sausage to peanut butter to a chilled cream cheese dessert pizza with tangerine and kiwi slices. That was pretty yummy.

Pizza is great. The only pizza I don't like is one so greasy that when you fold your slice, the oil backs up over the crust and drips down your wrist.

redwolf on May 30, 2007

Banana.

And, as I'm a huge pide fan (that would be Turkish pizza to the heathens), anything with spinach.

justG on May 30, 2007

*Gasp* That's the best kind! You're supposed to fold the slice and then hold it over your plate/wax paper so that the oil drips *down* the slice and off it first, before eating it. Then the pizza's crust and your wrist stay clean. =)

deaf258 Vip-micro on May 30, 2007

I had this combination which was really delicious!

Diced Tomato, chopped onions and chicken.

Whatever you do, don't get the BBQ sauce! It's just WRONG and taste nasty!

richmond on May 30, 2007

Cheese, tomato, basil and small pieces of dog meat (preferably not labrador retriever).

cheiie on Jun 01, 2007

Dishg - I haven't been able to find one for them yet, I'll pick up a menu from there next time I'm around, and see.

richmond - so, what type of dog meat would you recommend.....?

sloan on Jun 01, 2007

cheese

dishg on Jun 01, 2007

richmond, dog meat pizza???

thanks cheiie, that would be nice =)

ChickAzul on Jun 01, 2007

pepperoni, black olives, onion and mushrooms for fast home delivery, BUT there's this place here, that make yummiest shrimp (or octopus), olives, and other veggies with romesco sauce

cboz on Jun 06, 2007

Mmmmm... Hawaiian or Pepperoni. I like either Pizza Huts pan pizza or Dominos thin crust! Complete opposites, I know! I agree that Hawaiian is best fresh, not as good the next day.

Jen on Jun 06, 2007

Pineapple and Ham rocks! Thin crust please. :)

quicksilver on Jun 06, 2007

Hawaiian would be my favorite. Other toppings I like are bbq chicken (with bbq sauce instead of pizza sauce) and Papa Murphy's chicken garlic pizza.

dgtlb on Jun 17, 2007

Im all about the HAWAIIAN (ham, pineapple, onions)!

SpasticNate on Jun 17, 2007

Meatlovers, or Pep/Saus/Mush

VaaRDaMiRoFsHaDowgLaN on Jun 17, 2007

pepperoni, sausage, cheese, peppers, cheese, ham, worcestershire sauce, more cheese, mm more pepperoni.//worst--- corn !! grose D:

SpamDog on Jun 17, 2007

I think I just had one of the best pizza's I have had in a while.. it was: A white pizza with garlic, topped with sausage, onions, granny smith apple, and VT Cheddar cheese
It is at one of the local pizza joints and I have to say... I WILL order it again!!

anti on Jun 17, 2007

LOL most of this does not sound good! No pineapple please, or BBQ sauce. or pepperoni unless you just gotta. Anybody got anchovies? or Jalapenos? Thick crust extra cheese, with everything. Hope it's not greasy....

SpasticNate on Jun 17, 2007

I disagree anti, if your hands aren't greasy then your not eating "pizza", just teasing.

bdelisio on Jun 18, 2007

:-J To be read with a very thick Bronx accent:

I'm a New Yorker, born and raised. And I've traveled all over the US, Canada and Mexico.

Let me tell you something. A pizza is dough, sauce and mozzarella. Period. Maybe you throw some meat on there once in a while, but that’s it. OK OK maybe some hot cherry peppers too, but that’s it.

Let me tell you... there is no such thing as "pizza" outside NYC. They may call it "pizza". It may even look like a freakin’ pie. But I guarantee it doesn't taste anything like a New York slice.

Some say it’s the NYC water, I don't know.

All I know is that, the reason pizzerias outside the city have to put all that crap on a pie is to get them to taste like something.

Hawaiian pie??? WTF is that?? Dominoes, Pizza Hut? Child's ideas of a pie.

Listen come with me to Bronx, 233rd street under the L and I'll buy you the best slice in the world. Come on. You get the espresso afterward.

@Thin crust: If you want a thin crust eat a nacho
@No Grease: the grease comes from the cheese, it’s unavoidable unless you get no cheese or worse, the place uses that plastic stuff they pass off as mozzarella.
@Buffalo Chicken: Buffalo sauce don’t belong on anything but a wing.

LMAO

bdelisio on Jun 18, 2007

BTW It's against the law in NY to put fruit on a pie.

DrNo on Jun 18, 2007

What I really can't understand is the topping calculation. I ordered sausage, ham, pepperoni & green peppers and I get (DOMINOS) one topping per slice!!!! But just look at the pizza in the AD! It's loaded with meat and no empty spaces - no kidding.

DrNo on Jun 18, 2007

The pineapple thing - it's kinda sweet. Don't know if you want to go there.

DrNo on Jun 18, 2007

Well, maybe if you're interested in a fruit pizza.

DrNo on Jun 18, 2007

But the best pizza is lobster pizza (red lobster). It's a thin crust but what's really cool is - there's no sauce. But healthy chucks of tomato bits. I order it every time.

jeff on Jun 18, 2007

Lots of Fresh Garlic, Kalamata Olives, Onion, Freshly cracked pepper. Half way through throw on a sliced hard boiled egg and some pancetta. When its out, hit it with EV Olive Oil and Fresh Basil. Serve with 4-6 wobbly pops on ice.

AvantReese on Jun 18, 2007

Hawaiian pizza (that's Canadian bacon, not ham). I really like white pizza too, and mushrooms. My favorite is probably Margherita though, I ate it twice just last week.

Now I'm hungry.
