Cleveland Browns
Not sure if anyone is a sports fan here, to be honest I only follow the browns and most of that is for sentimental reasons.
Anyhoo I was curious if there were any other browns fans around here because it would be cool to talk about the season with someone here, hopefully there will be some good news this year!

Off just a few 100 miles, my icon speaks for me. Best of luck to your season. How are you feeling with Quinn?
iqon on Sep 06, 2007
Not a Browns fan but me and me monkey be ready for the season to start. Yarrrr, new year - new quarterback (sorta) - new chance for the dream to sink like a jaguar in a tar pit.
So get ready. I mean, get ready.
Are you ready for some football?!

I'm just ready for the season to start. No more preseason crap. Bring on the Jets!
bkendall on Sep 07, 2007
Quinn could be a good player...but in the future. Hopefully the coaching staff will stay committed to letting him learn in the wings for a year or two. He is nowhere near ready to be the man.

I'm wearing my Browns shirt now. Whacha want to talk about?
bkendall on Sep 07, 2007
I will say that at least so far it appears like they might have a decent offensive line this year, if everyone can stay healthy and out of jail.
bkendall on Sep 07, 2007
here's one for you...what do you think of the trouble with players like Bodden (arrested wed) and Tucker (suspended 4 games)?
seanhussey on Sep 07, 2007
I hadn't heard that (I don't follow the Browns), but I'm totally behind the Commish's conduct policy. If you're playing the the NFL, you're damn lucky. You don't have to be a role model, but you shouldn't be an anti-role model.
People here are excited about the upcoming Celtics season, but with the way the majority of players behave in the NBA, I can't be bothered to muster up even a modicum of interest. I don't want the NFL to follow in the NBA's footsteps.
So, yeah, on top of whatever criminal charges and penalties, keep on fining, suspending, and banning players. Let's concentrate on football and not let these distractions get in the way.
bkendall on Sep 07, 2007
that is one think I respect about Romeo Crennel (Brown's Coach) he is not afraid to get rid of players that are problem off of the field even if they are great players...it will interesting to see what they do with Ryan Tucker
mpmyers on Sep 07, 2007
The Bodden thing is a nonstory. I'm sure he'll end up paying a fine after pleading to lesser charges. Hadn't head about Tucker. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm not having a warm and fuzzy feeling about Sunday ...
seanhussey on Sep 07, 2007
Yeah, we miss him here in New England. Great guy.
bkendall on Sep 07, 2007
Tucker had been warned about roids in the past and then was tested during pre season and tested positive yet again so that is why the 4 game suspension
mpmyers on Sep 07, 2007
Nice... that's what I get for being sick all weekend. I miss everything. Kinda sad for him considering last year.
bkendall on Sep 07, 2007
yeah it is kinda sad but he should have known that they would catch him.
mpmyers on Sep 07, 2007
It's funny how roids are bad in football ... but in baseball, not so much *cough* Barry Bonds
bkendall on Sep 07, 2007
yeah that is funny...pro football seems to be better managed in some respects.
seanhussey on Sep 07, 2007
If only the MLB could institute some sort of 3 strikes and you're out rule.
bkendall on Sep 07, 2007
hmmm nahhh.... that would too much sense.
mpmyers on Sep 07, 2007
te he he - 3 strikes and your out.
Speaking of Baseball .. how about those Indians?
bkendall on Sep 07, 2007
yea I keep saying they will find some way to mess it up

oh ye of little faith ...

well opening day did not go so well for Cleveland but I will say that somethings did look better but overall a disappointment.

WTAM out of Cleveland is reporting Charlie Frye has been traded. Details to come.
bkendall on Sep 11, 2007
wow that is something! I was just reading the story. I think that is a knee jerk reaction and kind of sad. Cleveland is the quarterback destroyer and I hope Frye has better luck on another team. We really need some stability and not jumping ship every week!
mpmyers on Sep 11, 2007
Sounds like he's going to Atlanta ... and Dorsey will be signed later today/tomorrow. I think the coach is what needs to go.
bkendall on Sep 11, 2007
I dunno I have always respected Crennel...honestly I think they just need to demand more out of the people they have and quit blaming the front men (quarterback, Coach) for everything.
The offensive line did not perform well on Sunday and they have good players on that line.
seanhussey on Sep 11, 2007
Stick with Crennel for a while. Give him time. You won't regret it.
bkendall on Sep 11, 2007
WTAM is now reporting that Frye was traded to Seattle for a 2nd day draft pick.
bkendall on Sep 14, 2007
I am starting to think that everything that went down this week was simply desperation by Savage and Crennel to save their jobs. If they do not have a winning season, I am sure everyone will be replaced which is sad

Come on guys, once upon a time I was teething on wooden bats, stories of Bob Hope's interest in the Indians, and how there was no one better then Jim Brown. And you youngsters go huh? I grew up on major league sports in Cleveland; back when the jingle was "the Best location in the Nation." So, a lot of water (from the river that burned) has come and gone, and I live in Jax (I DON'T like the JAGs), there's always something good about the BROWNS playing, and although I've defectected to the National League, I can't watch the Indians and not remember my days at the stadium along the lakefront and happier times. My four grown sons still know that it's their MOM who knows more about baseball than their dad could ever dream about. (he's got me beat on football, 'cept Brown's trivia) So guys I say Go Cleveland!!! Kudos to the person who knows what non-sports first Jim Brown holds in celebrity history? take care Buckeyes and wanabe buckeyes, Terre

No I have been a fan of the browns since they cam back (I lived in MO before that) and it has never been about how good or how bad they are.
Yesterday was A LOT of FUN and even better since they came away with the win. Would have been nice to see a better defensive stand but when the offense is so fired up it is tough to stop them.
bkendall on Sep 17, 2007
I was just reading some of stats from the game yesterday.
The browns scored 51 points - tied for fourth most points in team history. It was also the most points scored by the Browns since the team’s return in 1999 and also the most points in Cleveland Browns Stadium.
554 net yards of offense – third highest in franchise history.
For the first time in franchise history, the Browns had a 300-yard passing QB, a 100-yard rusher and two 100-yard receivers in the same game.
Lets hope that their secret meeting last week really was the turning point and that we will see some more great stats. Maybe even see some defense in Oakland.
iqon on Sep 17, 2007
Or else the Browns and Bengals have both decided to Belichick the opposing defense!
bkendall on Sep 17, 2007
good one...I suppose anything is possible.

The browns had a good day yesterday and I missed it. If anyone wants to post a memorable moment or two that would be cool, I can always watch highlights and such but thought it would be fun to hear from some of you :)
beanface on Oct 01, 2007
They looked great and the Ratbirds looked terrible. Nice game. McNair was really struggling, maybe he wasn't well enough to play a full game yet.
bkendall on Oct 01, 2007
well I don't wish anyone bad health but it is nice that they are looking better. I have felt since pre0season that they have the talent this year they just need confidence and not make the dumb mistakes.

7-4 who would have thought we would be able to talk about the playoffs without laughing :)
