Announcing Hick Photo Captioning Contest #5!

Howdy there folks!

It's been a pretty good while since the hicks had us a contest, and I just been sitting here think this might be a good time to go ahead and run one. Those of you that remembers how the game is played can head on over to the place we keep the pitchrs and have a shot at it. The rest of you just hold yer horses while I explain a few things to ya.

rules

Well, 'bout the only thing resembling a rule we will hold ya to is that ya keep the captions family-oriented. I ain't talking about in a family way, neither, what I mean is we don't need a lot cussin' and general rudeness like that. Act like yer mamma will read what ya write.

Ya really ought to put yer name on there so we know who to give the prizes to. This one is optional.

The object of the game is to write a caption for the photo that will impress the team of judges with your cleverness, creativity, grasp of the language, or spelling. Usually they like the funny ones.

prizes

This one is the tricky part. I have 32 tokens until the end of the month. The plan is to spit them up equally among the top three contestants. Unfortunately that won't work because I am only missing four sets and a couple of them are bronzes. So here' what we will do.

The person who writes the caption garnering the most votes from our esteemed panel of judges will be allowed to choose which set to send me. Second place winner gets second choice, and third place gets to send after that. If we can't work something out due to being in the same delivery group or some such, we might be able to persuade Brother Louie to accept a set in my place. We will just have to see how it goes.

The standard legal jargon applies.

Good Luck!

Jan on Apr 15, 2008

Submitted one. When do we get to read the captions?

anti on Apr 15, 2008

after the contest is judged. Don't want anybody to be influenced. :)

Jan on Apr 15, 2008

Okay, then. I surely don't want to be under the influence of the captions. I'd far rather be under the influence of the rum! :)

anti on Apr 15, 2008

The more the rum, the better the captions. :)

debbye on Apr 15, 2008

hehe.

anti on Apr 16, 2008

I will likely run this a couple more days. Everyone still has a chance!

gswd on Apr 16, 2008

anti on Apr 17, 2008

MrDee on Apr 17, 2008

Tough pitchr to caption.

anti on Apr 17, 2008

Ohhh boy, you done it now. :)

anti on Apr 18, 2008

OK, I will close this thing down right after I run to the hardware store. Last chance!

sloan on Apr 18, 2008

you must have a fun hardware store anti...The suspense is driving me to martinis...Oh wait it's Friday hehe

debbye on Apr 18, 2008

i are waiting, too!

maybe her mule got a flat tire on the way to town …

sloan on Apr 18, 2008

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh why are you doing this to me? I'm pulling my (2 millimeter long) hair out. Oh the humanity...

anti on Apr 18, 2008

Hee hee.

This has been an especially fun one, everyone has gone off on a different tangent. The judges seem to be having a particularly difficult time of it, most have reported in and the choices are all over the place.

The last few decisions will be needed to give a clear winner, I will get back with you as soon as that happens. :)

debbye on Apr 18, 2008

it'll be ok …

*she says in a sympathetic, yet humorous voice, so as to not upset the sloan*

sloan on Apr 18, 2008

ehhh arr so you do know I'm fragile right???

Please tell me you understand...whaaaaa. There are bugs crawling all over me eekk..

sloan on Apr 18, 2008

1,2,3,4 5...all better now.

Why is everyone looking at me......

anti on Apr 18, 2008

yeah I understand I tend to be fragile too. :)

iqon on Apr 18, 2008

FRAGILE?!?!? Hicks ain't fragile. Milkin' them cows and plowin' them 40 acres make hicks tuff'er than city slickers. Fragile???? Y'all mean like that Elton John-boy from Walton's mountain?

   So goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
You can't plant me in your penthouse
I'm going back to my plough

Back to the howling old owl in the woods
   Hunting the horny back toad
Oh I've finally decided my future lies

Naw it is a psycho-schematic thing.

You make my life worthwhile
with the slightest smile
and destroy me
with a barely
perceptible whisper.

Queen~~~

That sort of fragile.

sloan on Apr 18, 2008

anti on Apr 19, 2008

sloan on Apr 19, 2008

anti on Apr 19, 2008

debbye on Apr 19, 2008

sloan on Apr 19, 2008

RE: may be selecting the winners according to shoe size

YARRRR! Me paintball cohorts named me Bigfoot. Me has really big feet (plus me be resemblin' that big hairy creature). So larger be better?

miranoriel on Apr 19, 2008

Larger is always better!

wait let me rephrase that...

sloan on Apr 19, 2008

anti on Apr 20, 2008

OK now, I can tell that this is just about to get out of hand, so I am just gonna kick this thing into gear.

Thanks to everybody that showed up to participate. We got us some great entries, and the judging was especially difficult.

Denise came out the winner this round. It looks like she has a real good choice of icons to send me, including a gold set. All we need to do there is find out what the situation is on her stamp supply to get the ball rolling there.

Jan ended up in second place. She can choose a set to send after I hear from Denise, once again plenty of choices there.

There was a three-way tie for third. KatieK, gswd and MrDee in that order, may send a set after the others are done choosing. MrDee also gets a can of shaving cream for making it personal. There is no additional benefit or prestiege for that, it's just a can of shaving cream.

Y'all can check out all the great entries at the contest site.

Thanks again, I had fun. :)

sloan on Apr 20, 2008

goods ones everybody, whens number 6...

anti on Apr 20, 2008

I ain't lacking the photos, we just gotta let a few more sets stack up first. :)

Jan on Apr 20, 2008

Great fun, anti! Congratulations to Denise and everyone else. I particularly liked the 'Shunning' news commentary. :)
Looking forward to the next contest.

MrDee on Apr 20, 2008

I hereby relinquish my icon sending rights to iqon.
'Packrat nervously watches from his hiding place.' is brilliant (I am keeping the shaving cream though)
I also think 'Laser cats are solar powered.' would make an excellent bumper sticker.

anti on Apr 20, 2008

That's fine, yours was the only one that made me hoot loudly, 'tho. :)

sloan on Apr 20, 2008

I relinquish my rights also. Right of all prize money I have won also to...Wait what did I win again?

anti on Apr 20, 2008

First in line for next contest. :)

sloan on Apr 20, 2008

iqon on Apr 20, 2008

Aye MrDee ye offer be most magnanimous. Thanky!

anti on Apr 20, 2008

This is getting out of hand again.

sloan on Apr 20, 2008
