Mac Advice

For those mac users out there, I'm looking for a free telnet connection software for a mac. My school recommends puTTY which only works on windows.

I've found MacTelnet, MacWise, and NiftyTelnet. Has anyone ever used these and are they any good? What would you recommend?

This is new ground for me, we'll be working on a Linux server doing server side scripts. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, I'm a bit tight on money being in school, so freeware is my only option right now.

Thanks!

hi a2, in Mac OS X, you can start a telnet session from the terminal. You don't need special software.

Star terminal: File Menu ... star remote connection - > select telnet and Server IP.

The other way:

In terminal window type:

telnet SERVERTOCONNECT_OR_IP

From the terminal you can start a telnet or ssh connection, no extra software is required. Mac OS X is Unix, and all the Unix came with Telnet cliente, ssh client ...

Oooh, do you have some advice for easy to use ftp-software, too? On my PC I am using a freeware called FileZilla. With this you can up- and download files via drag and drop. I am searching for something like this to use on my MacBook :) Anything someone can recomend? Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you :)

I use Fetch to ftp. I think it cost me $15 back when I got it & all upgrades are free. I've never had any problems with it & it's super easy to use.

I think now it's around $20. Actually the free programs I listed above do ftp as well. I haven't tried them, but hey, free is good!
