No worries about the delay. I was waiting to be connected to broadband from my new home. I had to relearn to live with no more than 10 min. of internet every 3-5 days ;-)

So how'd you end up on the seas?

That's a complex story. I started badly failing at school. Then I did better at uni. I ended up with a PhD and my country (Belgium). I am French speaking and it was important to learn to speak English properly, so I started to travel, going to places where they had labs doing the kind of research I was interested in. Went to the UK first, then back to the Dutch part of Belgium (they have an excellent uni in Leuven), then back to Brussels (my home city), then to Australia, then to Scotland. Being an academic, I had the opportunity to go to conferences in various places of the world. I toke an habit to spend one week extra to any place I went for a conference (New Orleans, Montreal, New York, etc.). On top, I travelled a lot as a kid (all around Europe). I am a keen walker and I enjoy places where I can find spectacular landscapes. I did a fair bit of backpacking (I have fantastic memories of travelling in Morocco) or renting a car or campervan for a month (West of America, with all national parks, red center in Australia, west coast in Australia, Across the North Island in New Zealand).
