Referral Link - Give Me One Good Reason...
Hey chefs,
When someone clicks through to my referral link, aside from the rather faint "Join now and get some free icons", there's no real reason for them to sign up! May I suggest putting some of the best icon images (so people will know what they're getting) on the referral page and then a signup link rather than presenting them with the form all at once? That way they can see the great quality you guys put out, and then think HEY I want some of these! Click the sign up link.. and we have a new icon addict.
Whaddya think?

I think that people should not give their kids a mullet.

Or give our referral link a cookie so they can browse around the site and we still get credit when they sign up at a later time/date.

I have just one addition to what epidemix said above. Our referral links should take visitors to our profile pages and give them "a cookie so they can browse around the site and we still get credit when they sign up at a later time/date."

not just points :) stamps are usefull too! A cookie is the best solution for me as very few people sign up without browsing...

It's worked this way for a little while now. You can refer-link someone to your profile page or a set's page, they can browse a bit before signing up, and you'll get the referral credit.

Does that work with the http://www.iconbuffet.com/people/new?ref=USERNAME format, or just the script/image referral links. I use that format in a number of forum sigs where the script ones won't work or anything other than simple HTML aren't allowed.
