Annual VIP subscription not offered anymore?

Why isn't there the option for an annual VIP subscription anymore? Only $6 per month (automatically charged) is offered!

maybe they are thinking about phasing it out all together sometime in the near future...?

anti on Apr 30, 2008

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle.

debbye on Apr 30, 2008

probably so they don't have to listen to us Ex-VIPs!

Psy2k on Apr 30, 2008

Yeah, but I'd like to buy an annual subscription which is much more affordable for me now, as I live in the EU and there is no official answer or announcement on why this option is canceled!

Psy2k on Apr 30, 2008

No official answer on this? CHEFS where are you?

josh Vip-micro on Apr 30, 2008

Hey Everyone — We phased out the annual subs a couple months ago due to some differences in the way PayPal (our payment processor) handles the different types of payments. Annuals require a bit more maintenance for us, so we decided a single format was the way to go for now. Hope this helps!

tell the truth josh...PR has taken over your finances and brains...Like little squeaking 4 legged zombies

gswd on Apr 30, 2008

I will accept Josh's explanation, however, I have to wonder if price increases are being thought about, or if this is the way to avoid having to do refunds when they close the site down.

Psy2k on Apr 30, 2008

Does this mean that IB has become more expensive for those who pay for annual subscription (annual is $40 and monthly is $72) and provides less sets per month? Really bad news!

gswd on Apr 30, 2008

There was a savings for paying annually over monthly. I don't remember the actual difference, but I thought it was like 2 months free or something.

Psy2k on Apr 30, 2008

@yeah: yes and now savings is gone and less sets are provided each month...

sloan on Apr 30, 2008

strike...kidding, thats why the free accounts rock. They just have an accountant learning process...huh?

debbye on Apr 30, 2008

i don't know if any of you noticed, but Josh is a VIP, now! there was a long time when he was blingless … interesting ¿

jconstant Vip-micro on May 01, 2008

I will accept Josh's explanation... - gswd

Why? It doesn't really make sense. I have a PayPal business account, and you can setup the subscription to run however you want. You can have one subscription that is 1 month, and another that is 1 year. Both will auto-renew, and both are controllable from either side (merchant or consumer can cancel at any time). I think @sloan might have gotten it right the first time ...PR has taken over your finances...

miranoriel on May 01, 2008

Did sloan pose for that ASCII picture?

elnitido52 on May 01, 2008

Sort of...

Betty on May 01, 2008

"We phased out the annual subs a couple months ago" and without providing any incentive to our formerly loyal VIP supporters to renew, no one in the dynamic IB community noticed.

@Psy2k: why bother?

elnitido52 on May 01, 2008

Yeah Psy2k...why bother? you arrr... saving some money...

sloan on May 01, 2008

It's my brother...although he is no where to be found nowadays

austingirl on May 01, 2008

@gswd - is there any official word on closing IB?

miranoriel on May 01, 2008

@austingirl - "is there any official word on closing IB?"

but... but... where will we go? where will we liiiive? :o :(

elnitido52 on May 01, 2008

Somehow we will end up here

miranoriel on May 01, 2008

sloan on May 01, 2008

miranoriel on May 01, 2008

'sup?

gswd on May 01, 2008

@austingirl - nope. nothing official. nothing rumored. There have been statements (from one of the Chefs) in the past that the thought of ending IB breaks their heart (or something similar). Alas, that was before the new baby arrived and stole all the love we used to get.

anti on May 01, 2008

no, it was said after that.

louiemctool on May 02, 2008

i think i may take an extended break from IB. maybe when i come back i'll find what used to make this site fun...

:P

miranoriel on May 02, 2008

What will the IBGGs do without louiemctool? :(
