Stamps idea
What would happen if somehow users could transfer stamps among each other - with a price of course.
Like user A sends user B 10 stamps, but user B only receives 8. Cost = to 2 stamps per 10 delivered.
I haven't really thought out the pros and cons, the idea just hit me suddenly this morning. Feedback?

why not the same for tokens then ?

It would make it more tempting for users to have multiple accounts...the ability to send all stamps and/or tokens to one account?

eep aaron that would definitely be a bad thing.

How about if people could get stamps by accepting non-sets? Get 5 stamps per, as usual, but no icon set involved.
Could be ongoing or special offers, just from chefs or earned in some way, always equivalent to (for example) accepting a gold or at variable token prices, available to all or only those who have all the sets.
I have about half the sets. I'm low on stamps now but will get more when I get and spend my new tokens. But the game stalls a bit for people with all of the sets, especially VIPs with more tokens going to waste, and this could keep them moving without breaking the 'economy.'

I would be nice to have more ways to get stamps. I have 8 outstanding, and 0 available. I only need 2 sets, so in a few days I'll get 10 more stamps...then I'll be stuck again (I already have over 30 referrals, and I'm running out of people to ask).

mik: Your idea would actually be the way we'd have to do it, under the current set-up.
Another, bigger issue is that this would give VIPs a significant scoring advantage, since they'd have more tokens to convert into stamps. Currently VIPs and non-VIPs have access to the same number of stamps; VIPs just collect them more quickly. I think that's healthy.
We are interested in thinking about other ways to get more stamps into the system, though at this point stamps outnumber tokens by a huge margin.

Cool ideas, I think. Fwiw, I don't think that changes considered for implementation should depend on how greatly they increase the likelihood that people will attempt to the game the system. I think that people who want to game the system will continue to try, and weeding them out will always be a chore for the Chefs, much like weeding out comment spammers will always be a chore for bloggers. I would hate to think that they're "getting to us" and determining how cool the site will be made fo those of us who play nicely.
Y'know?

@iconmaster: Thanks for the response, it helps to know what is or isn't possible with the existing system.
I'm all for other ways to get more stamps.
- earned by achieving certain badges or points levels?
- earned by participation in forums?
- random acts of stampness?
- easter egg type prizes?
- birthday gifts?
I would still like for those who have all the sets to have a way to convert some tokens to stamps, to keep them in the game and not feel like tokens are wasted --> more motivation to stay VIP; but it should be limited by being a rare opportunity (e.g. only once in a refill cycle), or expensive, or both.
