[Req] Daily/Weekly Token Refresh
First: I love iconbuffet!
Second: I think it'd be great if, instead of a once per month refresh on the tokens, you get a daily or weekly refresh, depending on your status (VIP vs nonVIP).
Thus, VIP: 1 token / day.
Non-VIP: 4 tokens / week.
Breaks down easily, keeps us addicts addicted with a constantly refreshing supply of goodness. And I believe this would not impact the support structure you have in place.
Just my $0.02.

Heh, though my math is crappy. What's 10 divided by 4? Not 4, surely. :9

So, that'd be 2.5 per week. Perhaps round up to 3 per week for a total of 12 per month instead of 10? Hm...

But then they would need to produce a lot more sets for people to spend their tokens on otherwise everyone will quite quickly have all the sets ...

A lot more? Why? It's the same number of tokens per month for VIP, and 2 more a month for non-VIP. It's just spread out so that people can either save their tokens from one week to the next, in order to get a particularly coveted gold set, for example, or spend them more slowly on bronze and silver sets. In either case, it would further one of IB 2.0's objectives of getting people to come back frequently throughout the month. While IB 2.0 is light years ahead of the system we had before, Jahnoth is right: even with the current system, people will spend their tokens quickly on the sets they want/can afford, and then disappear until their tokens are refilled.
I dunno, I think it's quite a worthwhile idea, and I hope the Chefs give it some consideration. =)

I do like the idea. I think the non-VIP would have to be 2 tokens/week with a couple extra added in at the start or end of the cycle.
It could work.

I hope this gets some consideration too. I know I'm nearly out of tokens and I've only been here a couple days. I'm trying to get the sets I really want first and then save up to get the rest, but it's hard to keep declining sets from nice people who just want to help.

This is a great idea!!
Hope to see it made true...

Or you could just make it 1 token every three days. The surplus compared to the current way would be less than 2 tokens per year.

Stoopid tags! <_><
That should have quoted John as saying "I think the non-VIP would have to be 2 tokens/week with a couple extra added in at the start or end of the cycle."

It'd certainly be great. I was out of tokens within my first two days, not thinking about actually SAVING anything. :) Then my stamps all went within two days after that as I tried to trade back out to everyone I could. this would keep commerce steadier and could only help iconbuffet. It may even get more people to sign up as VIP to have that 1 token/day. (Not sure what the proportion is VIP vs nonVIP, but it could only help.)

I also love this idea. It would allow flexibility and encourage people to log in regularly instead of one day a month.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the number of tokens/stamps received. True, I have all the sets and had a buttload of stamps to use at the start, but I think the strat and communinity involvement set up by this system is more than fair and enjoyable.
I suppose, however, I could see a steady dishout of the tokens over a given period of time, rather than all at once would be appropriate, the problem you have there is that I think you would then have to be able to "bank" your existing tokens, which is not the case now.

Perhaps the maximum is still imposed? Once you hit 10 or 30, you don't accrue anymore until you start using them again.
watehey on Mar 22, 2007
Actually, I'm not clear as to why the chefs have imposed a "Use 'em or lose 'em" aspect to the tokens in the first place. I mean, with no more tokens than what a standard user receives in a month - it's not as if they could amass a huge stockpile anyway. Though I suppose it encourages people to at visit at least once a month.

AHHH!! /me needs to think before typing ... :D
iconmaster on Mar 23, 2007
Turns out this would make it impossible to do some of the cooler things we want to do with the token refresh cycle. Sorry, it has to stay monthly for now. :)

So long as you have "cool" things planned down the line. :)
jpowerbook2007 on Mar 23, 2007
I got plenty 'o stamps...just want more tokens :(
carlee on Mar 30, 2007
I've been here for a couple of hours and have already used up all 10 of my tokens, lol. :P
I'd go VIP but I currently have more money in my Paypal account than my bank account. =\
