Geek Girl tips
Before the Geek Girl fanboys get all excited, I should just clarify that it's geek girl tips... ;-)
I figured the geek girls need somewhere to share all their geeky tips and finds rather than keeping them all to themselves, so, here goes...
How many bookmarked sites do you have? Duplicate links? Any broken links? Are they all pointing to what you originally bookmarked? I've got rather a lot of bookmarks (1471, I discovered this afternoon) and it would take me quite some time to manually check them all.
Step up, AM-Deadlink. A very nice little app that once pointed at your bookmark file will test all your bookmarks for you to check they're still live, download the site's favicon (the little pic that you get at the side of the site's name in your bookmark list and in the address bar at the side of the site URL) if it has one, and help you weed out duplicate links, and generally get your bookmarks in order. There's a nice tutorial on it, complete with screenshots on TechRepublic which explains the process, step by step.
I use the Foxmarks Firefox extension to keep my bookmarks syncronised between my laptop and my PC (which also means that thanks to Foxmarks I can also access my entire bookmark list from any PC with an internet connection), and now I can keep them all nice and neat and tidy as well! I am indeed a happy bunny. :-)
(Btw, my bookmark list's now down to 1371 after I weeded out the dead links and duplicates ;-))

I am such a geek it took me forever to figure out why you spelled "tips" so carefully.

I was just thinking earlier about how really groovy it is to be an old lady. Don't annoy me kid, I heard it all decades ago.
Anyway, I only bookmark my own sites. The rest goes into icio.us, thank goodness big Y! hasn't piddled with that one.
Oh, and just cause of the tinfoil hat, icio arto posts to my blog.

Those of you who use del.icio.us, ma.gnolia or Simpy might be interested in dead.licious, a brilliant little donationware (Mac) app that'll check for dead links for you.
Also, those of who are del.icio.us "power users" but also have local links might be interested in WebnoteHappy, a shareware bookmark manager for the Mac. It also stores wee notes 'n' things, but it's mainly for URLs. I've had a very flaky 'net connection for a while, and as much as I love del.icio.us/ma.gnolia, I'm not always online. Additionally, if I'm in the middle of something and saving a bunch of links to check later, I don't always have time to annotate and tag them. Basically I wanted a desktop application that would integrate the two and wasn't browser-specific. I tried 'em all, and fell in love with this one. I can't recommend this application highly enough. In fact, now that I've switched from del.icio.us to ma.gnolia, I feel totally handicapped because WnH doesn't support any social bookmarking service but del.icio.us yet.

Sorry for the double-post, forgot to add this:
How many bookmarked sites do you have? Currently 10,813. No duplicates because if I save an URL I already have, WebnoteHappy warns me and prompts me to merge the two entries.
