Summer Reading List?

Any suggestions for summer reading? I've finished HP and the Deathly Shadows and need some suggestions for reading at home on the porch, and at the beach in a few weeks.

A couple shorties would be the popular two: The Alchemist and Four Corners. Have you read the Eragon books? I thought the stories there were pretty good.

i'll sit on your porch, too, if you like!

Have you read Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy? It's one of my favorite trilogies. The first book is called "The Golden Compass" and I just found out that they're making a movie which is scheduled for release in December.

I'm a huge bookworm so I can suggest a ton more books if you want them.

I really enjoyed "The Kite Runner"...the authors name escapes me at the moment, but it was a good eye-opener.

I don't know if you are into classical authors like Jane Austen or Mark Twain, but if you are, I find they're always a good read/re-read...

Here the books I've read this so far this summer that I can reccomend:
The Curse of Chalion - Lois McMaster Bujold
The Stars My Destination - Alfred Bester

Oooh, so glad someone mentioned the His Dark Materials series. They are beyond fabulous and I recommend them to so many people. They're similar to the HP books in that the author created a very complete, rich world in which the characters live.

I also like the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud, and I think his other stuff is pretty good too.

I also like a lot of stuff by Ray Bradbury (he has a ton of short stories, suitable for home, porch, or beach-reading).

I like Lemony Snicket, and most anything by Jennifer Weiner (namely Good in Bed and Goodnight, Nobody).

I have a million book reviews on my blog, but if you liked Harry Potter, you'd probably like the Roman Mysteries by Caroline Lawrence.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm open to suggestions in just about all genres [however, even though I'm a pirate, I'm not a fan of bodice ripper romance novels].

Hum... Well, have you read THE MEN'S GUIDE TO THE WOMAN'S BATHROOM by Jo Barrett or THE ULTIMATUM by Dan Graziano? Or if your into vampires, KISS OF MIDNIGHT (THE MIDNIGHT BREED, BOOK 1)by Lara Adrian was really good.

If you really need ideas, check out my Shelfari list.
