Hash Puzzle - current category is Video Games

I'm going to post a category, which will contain one or more questions. The questions are all given in the form of clues.

To check your answer, find its MD5 hash (a special string of characters for verifying whether two things match) by clicking here and entering your answer in the box– use all lowercase letters unless the answer always contains a capital letter (for instance, the name of a set of icons). If the hash you get matches the one for that question, you've got the correct answer! When you have the correct answer, post it here and you'll get a spot on the leaderboard.

Leaderboard
•   Soprano – 400 points
•   Annikalee – 100 points

B3llit0 on Jul 17, 2008

Yeah, right again! How did you know tambora?

soprano on Jul 17, 2008

countertenor, Rodelinda, ???

B3llit0 on Jul 17, 2008

First two are right. ??? is not the name of the opera house creator.

B3llit0 on Jul 17, 2008

It's a first and last name.

soprano on Jul 18, 2008

Charles Garnier

B3llit0 on Jul 18, 2008

Yup! Alright, let me make another…

soprano on Jul 18, 2008

Oro Solidó, La Banda Gorda, The English Concert, and the last one isn't on Wikipedia's list of musical groups established in 1999.

Betty on Jul 18, 2008

I got a headache trying to understand the directions. Guess this one is just for the young 'uns.

annikalee on Jul 18, 2008

@betty: i'm young and i don't get it either

soprano on Jul 18, 2008

Guess the answers using the hints, put your guesses in here, and see if the hashes match.

soprano on Jul 19, 2008

So is the score 375/25 or 300/100?

annikalee on Jul 19, 2008

the last one is Gogol Bordello

B3llit0 on Jul 22, 2008

That wraps it up! Next puzzle is Japanese Food, coming soon to a blog near you.

SawanM Vip-micro on Jul 22, 2008

Woo hoo, I will try :)

B3llit0 on Jul 22, 2008

Alright, good luck!

annikalee on Jul 22, 2008

i have no idea what the third one is

B3llit0 on Jul 22, 2008

soprano on Jul 22, 2008

sunomono

B3llit0 on Jul 22, 2008

SawanM Vip-micro on Jul 22, 2008

Erm, you could give us some notice please :p

I missed out on that one.

SawanM Vip-micro on Jul 22, 2008

Cassino 2330 for the third one?

soprano on Jul 22, 2008

Not Cassino 2330.

???, Jerusalem, Casino, Blaster

soprano on Jul 22, 2008

The first one isn't on Symantec's list.

B3llit0 on Jul 22, 2008

No, it's not. It's more accurately described as a browser-based exploit, though some do consider it a virus.

Liquix Vip-micro on Jul 22, 2008

I remember the last virus. I ues to play around with my friends using it in the late 90's. Have to see if I can remember the name >.<

Liquix Vip-micro on Jul 22, 2008

Bellito? Is it a javascript or java-based virus?

SawanM Vip-micro on Jul 23, 2008

Jerusalem, Casino and Blaster.

B3llit0 on Jul 23, 2008

Sorry, Soprano already got those three.

@Liquix: Yeah, it's Java-based. Harmless, too– just annoying.

soprano on Aug 08, 2008

I think we're all stuck on the first one; it's been more than two weeks since anyone posted anything.

B3llit0 on Aug 08, 2008

It's NoisyBear. Java exploit of sorts that plays an annoying drum noise that doesn't stop till you quit the browser. Source code for it is out, as is a page that lets you see it.

soprano on Aug 08, 2008

No, it's not – your hashsum says 393fa59fa77c2fffe5de0f4ae3718666, while the real hashsum is 4f73e1102c965e7cb5757b6fd1e4c150.

No wonder I couldn't figure it out.

B3llit0 on Aug 09, 2008

Hm, I don't know what happened– try different capitalisation.

annikalee on Aug 09, 2008

it works if you use "Noisybear"

soprano on Aug 09, 2008

Oh well.

B3llit0 on Aug 09, 2008

Want me to do another?

soprano on Aug 09, 2008

Absolutely.

B3llit0 on Aug 09, 2008

OK, but I don't know what category to do.

annikalee on Aug 09, 2008

i have no idea but i wanted to say that i like the new avatar B3llit0...

Darkneo Vip-micro on Aug 09, 2008

Do video games or something.

B3llit0 on Aug 09, 2008

@annikalee: Heh, thanks. Wasn't difficult at all, but it turned out nicely.
@Darkneo: kthx
